The Love Birds

Updated on July 10, 2017

What does a man look for in a woman?

Psychology claims that we subconsciously seek to marry our mothers mirrored in ourselves. We all have special unique attributes. The features may be that silky hair, bright eyes, aquiline nose, rosy cheeks, tender lips. Hey, hey, hey watch out. That mental image carefully described your mother. Of course you did it without knowing.

I realized the truth in this line of psychology when I exposed my wedding photos to my workmates, who to my amusement exclaimed loudly “Waaaaaau, what an uncanny resemblance between the bride and groom!”

A few days later, I drove to pick my mother after a women’s church conference where she had been appointed one of the speakers. I was surprised to be mobbed by ladies I had never met. Some hailed from neighboring countries. They grabbed and shook my hand while enquiring whether I had any blood relations with the Reverend who had addressed them in the conference.

Oedipus complex is still innately dormant in us but emerges when we least expect it. We always glance at our images in our bathroom mirrors each morning, love ourselves dearly and seek to marry those who resemble our image in the mirror. It is only after marriage that other people notice the resemblance between the two of you.

What does a woman look for in a man?

Casting other attributes aside, is it neat hair, steady looking eyes, firm cheeks, moustache, long nose, full firm lips. Sister you just described your daddy and neither could you help it. The greatest mistake we make is in trying to look and even behave like other people. If God wanted you to resemble others he would have done so. If you don’t like your looks, it is highly possible that you will experience difficulties in locating your future wife or husband.

Plastic surgery should seek to restore the looks that were, and not replace your previous looks. You are fearfully and wonderfully made, the way you are. The good book says “Love your neighbor the way you love yourself” Do you love yourself? Somebody is seriously looking for you now.
