Don't Forget The Gifts For Your Bridal Party

Wondering about all the fuss over bridal party gifts? What's everyone talking about?

Bridesmaids, and especially the Maid of Honor, generally pitch in to help the Bride with wedding plans, running errands for her, planning showers and just basically being there when she needs a shoulder to lean on. So the bride gives the members of her bridal party a gift to show not only her appreciation, but as a token of love, too.

Traditionally this gift is a piece of jewelry, a handbag or an ornament for the hair - something which can be worn during the wedding. This serves a couple of purposes: Some bridesmaids may not be able to afford nice jewelry on top of the other wedding expenses they've incurred, and this way everyone has something nice to wear. Plus, there's also some unity in style and color since the bride picks the jewelry for all of her attendants.

But brides and their bridal parties are moving away from the traditional, in almost every aspect of the wedding plans. The bridal party gift is no exception. Here are some ideas that are popular right now.

Bridal Party Jewelry

You and your bridesmaids are all going to feel like Princesses when you walk down that aisle, so why not wear the same earrings Kate Middleton wore for her Royal Wedding?

Inspired by the earrings given to Princess Catherine by her parents, these Teardrop Chandelier Earrings feature the oak leaves and acorns that represent the Middleton coat of arms.

Bridal Party Gift Ideas For Her

  • Personalized Gifts

These days, anything goes - as long as it's personalized. T-shirts, coffee mugs, mouse pads, pillows, notebooks - you name it. If you can put your name and wedding date on it, the members of your bridal party will love it.

  • Tote bags (see the bottom of that article)

Everybody knows how important it is to carry an tote bag full of emergency supplies to the church - a bottle of water, an energy bar, some aspirin, a nail file and clippers, extra stockings, nail polish and anything else you can fit in a bag. Your bridesmaids should have their own emergency tote bags, too. And after the wedding they can turn them into laptop bags or use them instead of plastic bags at the grocery store.

  • Customized Pendants and Charms (see the bottom of that article)

Customized pendants and charms are becoming more and more popular. They're not necessarily meant to be worn at the wedding. But they're a fun reminder that can be worn every day.

  • Gift Cards

Now don't turn up your nose. Gift cards are always welcome and you can find them for even the upscale stores. Some of your bridesmaids might be feeling a little pinched after paying for shoes and a gown, or maybe their travel expenses wiped out their entertainment budget for a while. Everyone likes gift cards because it means there's a shopping trip on the horizon - on somebody else's dime!

More ideas For Bridal Party Jewelry

When choosing jewelry as a gift for the members of your bridal party there's nothing that says you have to give them each the same thing.

If you're giving them jewelry that you want them to wear during the wedding ceremony you may want to try to stay within the same style or color. For example, everybody gets pearls or everyone gets vintage style chandelier earrings. Still, the jewelry doesn't have to match.

In fact, you should also take into consideration the neckline on each girl's dress and the shape of her face, so the jewelry you choose is flattering for each individual. After all, you want them to be able to enjoy their gifts after the wedding, too.

For strapless and off-the-shoulder dresses look at choker necklaces, to highlight the girls' shoulders and collarbones. Short strands of pearls are another good choice for this style of dress and after the wedding's over your bridesmaids will be able to wear a pearl necklace anywhere.

Chokers are also a good choice if your dresses have low-cut halter top. However, if the halter dress has a high neckline then skip the necklace and go straight for the earrings.

A Y-necklace looks gorgeous with a V-neck or low-cut dress and it's a flattering necklace style for everybody.
