Why is it that they usually shoot the messenger?
The question relates to anytime a person carries a tale - gossips.
I think one such answer is; the moment of initial anger after receiving bad news, some people want to take it out on someone immediately.
Typically, the messenger is right there and is a handy component of the message delivery system.
Some people take out their anger on the component of the message. In this anger, is the desire of the person receiving the message to inflict pain on something that can feel pain.
Since the message itself cannot feel pain, the messenger is the next best thing.
All depends what the message is. Some people do not like to hear bad news. Even if it is the truth. Sometimes the messenger comes at the wrong time. This is not a question of people shooting at random but shooting within reason. For example not upsetting those anti-animals people it is up to you if you choose not to eat rabbit. But others have a right to choose. Some of us eat meat sometimes others not. We can not always keep to times when we do and when we do not. Sometimes for health reasons we can not always follow the rules we make. Whether we shoot rabbits, deer or in other countries other animals. Shooting is not about shooting people but about animals which are foods. Naturally we can not shoot all animals other wise if there is a desease amongst fruit and veg and pulses etc. we will all starve. Everything is done in moderation.
But sometimes when a dictator comes along the army must make a stand. Please folks do not get carried away with your answer.

Which is more important, the Man or the Message? If Jesus was here right now, do you believe that Jesus would allow himself to be called "merely" a prophet, if it meant that people would accept the message he was sent to deliver? Or do you think Jesus' rank would be more important to him?
