   Should homosexual marriage be legal?
   
   A lot of people are divided on this issue. I was hopping to have a good discussion about this. I would like to hear some proofs for and against, if anyone has any to offer. I'd really like to see some good backing.

   Simple common sense reason gives a plain and true answer.
   Debates will merely an attempt to cloud the truth.

   I agree some people intend on clouding the truth by debating. However it's my experience that if we can calmly discuss things, bringing up valued points, we can educate each other. Your comment could be considered debating itself. Your presenting an argument to me.
   
   Now, I'm very interested in hearing your "plain and true answer."

   I can understand your answer, since culture does matter to some extent. Let me clarify. Since the debate seems to be most heated in California and in the United States, I'd would like to ask if should be legal there.
   
   I am personally against legalizing homosexual marriage for many reasons. One important reason is that homosexuality isn't marriage by definition, and I see no point in the government recognizing it.  Children are a huge part of marriage, not the sole purpose, but one of the main reasons why the government is involved. I sympathize with people who experience same-gender attraction, I do believe they deserve the same rights as the rest of us, however, I don't believe this is a "right" to be legally married to someone of the same-sex. I see no purpose in it.
   
   Now that is one point that I see, if there is something I missed I'd really like to know. I see debating useful because someone could bring up something I haven't thought of before and it will help me understand something. Some people may think some of my positions are ignorant, so naturally I want to understand other points of view so I'm not making ignorant positions. So I really am open to discussing this subject.
