advantages are it will spread the sense of coexistence with other living creature to mankind.
advantages: you get to know your partner's behaviors well enough just in case you get married.
disadvantages: cohabitation can be dangerous as it could lead to unwanted pregnancy
Advantages are, it lowers cost of living because of the cost of food, rent, bills etc, split in tow where both parties pay a little or in some case the man pay the bills. Emotional support and sexual relations without the commitment of marriage. You get to test your compatibility before marriage. Help you to know your partners loyalty and build trust, which will not be shaken if you decide not to get married in the future. Helps you to prepare for marriage and living with someone and tolerating their bad habits, attitudes and manners. However there are disadvantages to cohabitation which are, the longer you live together, chances are you might become comfortable with that arrangement and avoid getting married. It makes it easier for partner to walk out, since there are no legal obligations, it encourages easy exit for anyone who chooses it. Most people will more likely experience negativity from partner about child bearing and marriage. Females suffer the most loss during the break- up relationship. Women in their twenties and thirties lost both times with their biological clock and dignity in the process.
I've lived with a guy before marriage and I'm not sure it was any help. It's not a religious thing, it just can cause a bucketload of problems. there are times when it might be worthwhile to live together.
Here's an article I wrote ages ago and if you want to hear both sides, read the comments at the bottom of the page:
http://www.suite101.com/content/living- … ge-a139472
add your own comments if you want. In general, I think there are a lot of bad side-effects like just being too lazy to move on when it's time...let me know what you think.
On the other hand, my daughter is living with her BF and...in a very few situations...it might be good. they're both in college and they study together as they are trying to get into the same grad school program. My other daughter would not do well living with a guy.
Cohabitation is like buying something on credit. If you don't like it - you can stop payment. Marriage is like paying cash. Not only can you not stop payment, your going to have to come up with more. Been married 42 years and I can't come up with any more so I stay married. If we had cohabitated, maybe It would have been easier to stop payment. Nice thing about being married though; If you wait out the rough portions of the ride you fall in love all over again. The problem with cohabitation is there isn't any incentive to wait out the ride.
Wrote a hub about this called "marriage ain't for sissy's". Its humor, but then, nothing is as funny as marriage.
This question should not even be an issue. God clearly says in His Word, the Bible, "Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge (Heb 13:4 KJV). Fornication is a violation of the law of God and He is keeping track.
