You'll most likely be expected to have a few games on hand (with prizes for the winners), some snacks and dessert (cake/cupcakes), and optional bridal shower favors.
It's a nice idea to set up a theme for the day, because then you can decorate accordingly.
You should also know where your bride-to-be is registered so that you can mention that in the bridal shower invites.
For the guests, you should check with your bride to make sure you invite the right people that she wants there.
I don' think that it takes much planning before having a shower, just get undressed and get in when the water is hot enough. I think a bride should be able to manage that the same as anyone else.
