   Is it better to call, email, sms or post a wedding invitation?
   
   Nowadays, to email or even text/sms an invitation is considered acceptable . For a wedding invitation, will this be appropriate?

   I am going through the wedding invitation stage myself. Most people send out 'save the date' cards months in advance then the invites a couple of months before the wedding.
   
   We actually emailed everyone the date and destination, so they were aware of our wedding and we had an idea of who will and who wouldn't come. They could also book time off work if need be.
   
   Send out an invitation which is a hard copy for guests to hopefully put on their pin board.  They should also send you back the rsvp section of the invite.
   
   I think doing traditional invitations is nice and formal, but email people as well.

   The classy thing to do is mail hard copy wedding invitations with self addressed stamped RSVP envelopes. Text and emails are fine for a last minute weekend BBQ or meet for drinks kind of thing. It's not the method most people would choose to announce their wedding day. In fact as Emma suggested, the traditional thing to do is mail out "save the date" notices a few months prior to the wedding invitations. You have to almost think of it as a marketing campaign. (Save the date notices, invitations, bridal shower, bachelor/bachelorette gathering, rehearsal dinner, and finally the wedding).

   Personally speaking, I do not find this latest tend of sending wedding invitations to people via email or texts very fascinating. In this era of technology, people prefer connecting with each other via calls, sms, emails etc rather than meeting personally.
   
   Wedding is a very special occasion in every person's life and you wish to celebrate it with your near and dear ones. So I believe the best way to invite people for your wedding is either personal invitations (i.e. by meeting them personally) or posting your wedding cards.
