I believe people commit suicide because they are very unhappy with their lives, but most importantly (they don't believe things can or will get any better) for them. One secret to having a joyful life is to always have something to (look forward) to. If you take that away from a person it kills their spirit.
A life without dreams isn't living, only existing.

Suicide. Scary, private thoughts invading our minds. Choosing to die by suicide is a persons last desperate attempt to end the prolonged misery and overwhelming feelings of grief that they don't know how to subside.  Being a psychologist, suicidal ideation comes up alot in my practice. It is not such a rare thought. One in every six people considers suicide as a viable option to end the physical sensations of pain and misery associated with their grief.  People who regularly think of suicide as the only viable option to end their inner pain truly don't know other ways in which to bring down the pain they are feeling inside.  These people don't truly want to die, but their true first priority is to end the pain that they are feeling inside due to unresolved grief that they are undergoing.  They truly believe that death is the only way they can end their pain.  Thankfully, there are suicidologist.  These are psychologist and other mental health professionals who study suicide, behaviors and thoughts of it, and why it is so prevalent amongst us during our most grievous times of inner pain.  Mental health treatment has many techniques that can offer other ways to help to decrease and end the pain, other than death by suicide. They are out there, you just have to have the open mind to try these techniques and see that they can help, if you apply them.  Remember, books, reading, and a real life therapist who specializes in suicidology and grief and loss can help you take leaps and bounds when you are trying to find ways to decrease the pain and grief that you are feeling during these troubled times.  Give it a shot. Get help. Don't go at it alone.  And remember, stay strong and positive.
