Do men define themselves by their career?

I suspect there are many that do. Generally speaking whenever you meet someone especially if it is in the single's scene you are likely to be asked what it is you do for a living. Most men reply by saying, "I am a...etc" as if it is (who they are) instead of describing what it is they do/responsibilities.
If one identifies them self as being their job then it is understandable how they might feel worthless or embarassed when they are unemployed. A career/job is something you do to earn a living. It is not who you are! One man's opinion! :-)

Some do if they have an unusual job, but most ordinary people just look at work as a source of income.
