Is love a mystery having individual esoteric meanings rather than explained by science as emotion?

There are all kinds of love- friendship, intimate or romantic love, tough love, self-love, patriotism, spiritual love, familial love, puppy love,  conditional and unconditional, erotic- to name a few.  Is all love just a cocktail of serotonin and endorphins produced by the brain? It is if you don't want to believe in a soul. I do wonder why love stays. How I can love someone I used to love years ago and haven't seen for decades. I also wonder how love sustains us even after a partner's death. Whether it is purely biologic or not there are a tremendous number of mysteries surrounding the topic of love.

Love is a strong emotion of carrying about the well being of another.
Having said that every individual has their own "litmus test" of what love is suppose to look like, feel like, or be expressed in terms to convey it.
"If you loved me you would....etc" or "A real man/woman would...etc"
This is about our own (individual) definitions/expectations of love.
We look for those who love us way the way (we) want to be loved.
Most of us know how we feel about others but we question how they feel about us. This is especially true if they don't act/behave the way we want. Some people demand proof you love them before they will allow themselves to love you or admit they love you.

Love is - if you want a mystery, in reality Love is a greatest power of the  universe, manifested by God in all creation - in giving to the world- mankind all we enjoy and have. Above all He loved the world so that he - GAVE his only begotten Son in order that everyone who believes in him should not die, but have eternal life. All others emotions, feelings, inclinations  called love are selfish expression of one's  ego, to have , to poses and to enjoy....
