Making Wedding Plans-Memories of a Rennaissance Wedding Ideas
Choosing a Theme For The Special Day
Memories of a Rennaissance Wedding Ideas. Choosing a theme wedding is not an easy choice and many themes are available . Many traditional venues don't specialize in the things needed to host a wedding that does not fit the norm. When my daughter and her future husband decided that a Renaissance would be what they wanted, we needed to do a lot of research on the subject. We had a list of questions that needed to be answered and wedding ideas for Renaissance theme were few.
Wedding Ideas
1. Where were we going to host the wedding?
2. How would we decorate?
3. What was everyone expected to wear?
4. Where were we going to find the attire?
5. What beverages, and food choices would be the right fit for our theme?
After a long search for the perfect place to host the Wedding we decided that our best choice was to do it at our home. At the time we had a home that was spacious both inside and out. We lived near the Gulf of Mexico in Mississippi, so our house was built on stilts as a safety measure from storms. This gave us ample space to host the perfect Wedding. We decided that underside of the house was the place our guests could be protected from the sun and since it was cement we could use it as a dining and seating area.
Here is a photo of the house you can see the area underneath is large enough for our 125 guests.
The Beautiful Bride and Her Maids
The brides dress was a costume that was ordered from a company that specializes in Rennaissance Attire. The full length dress in made from a forest green color velvet, with laced sleeve and bodice. A white inserts accent the shoulders and sleeves. A delicate crown fashioned of fresh cut flowers adorns the bride head. She carries a simple bouquet of two white roses with ferns accenting the perimeter of the design. The bride wore her hair in traditional period style.
Choosing the right food for a rennaissance theme
Easy to Prepare and Serve Food
The food we choose was simple, during the renaissance most of the food was roasted or eaten raw.
Menu
Deviled Eggs
Assorted Cheeses
Boiled Shrimp
Vegetable Platter with Dips
Punch
Mead ( a honey wine)
Baked Ham
Turkey Drumsticks
Roast Beef
Potato Salad
Macaroni & Shrimp Salad
Tossed Salad
Baked Beans
French Bread
Assorted Sandwich Rolls
All of our food was precooked and only required reheating before serving. This saved us clean-up time, since there was preparation to do at the Wedding. We had several close friends who were in charge of serving the food, cleaning up, and serving beverages.
The actual cost of the wedding was minimal. Most of the money was spend renting tables and chairs, updating our yard, and of course the Wedding Cake. The yard update was an added bonus since we got to keep the plants and flowers after the wedding. I suggest that if you are going to host a wedding at your home you make a list of things you need to do, set a budget and involve friends and family to help on the actual day. Many of our friends and family members prepared food for no charge and were happy to be a part of the weddings success.
The Wedding Theme was a memorable one, and the success was possible by the friends and family member who contributed there time and cooking abilities.
If you are looking to have a large wedding and money in a problem, I suggest you considered doing it outside at your home.

The Ceremony
Finding someone to perform the Wedding Ceremony. If you are planning a theme for you wedding ceremony, you may want to considered first getting married in a civil service ceremony several days before the actual wedding reception. Then you can get a dear friend to perform a theatrical version of the ceremony for your guests on your special day. This is the choice my daughter and her husband choose since finding someone to do the ceremony in costume was impossible.
These are some of the suggestions I would like to add, to help make your planning easier. If you are planning a large reception for your guests, you may decide the easiest way to plan the meal is to have it catered. You can contact catering company to help with the plans or you may opt to visit the deli section of your local supermarket. Most Large supermarkets will prepare trays for your meal, you may be able to select cheese trays, meat trays, salad trays, and various other types of food. This in an easy and economical way to serve your guests quality food without any fuss. The only thing you need to plan is for someone to pick-up the food and deliver it to the reception.
Another consideration you may need to determine is what flowers you want. Traditionally, flowers are ordered premade into bouquets. However, for a less expensive version, buy your choice of flowers or pick roses from the garden, tie them together with florist tape and attach ribbons. Easy elegant and cost effective.
