Our Mouth Heals or Kills

Updated on February 27, 2015

Everyone should know that the mouth causes a lot of harm when words are used in an evil manner. People are killed, fights happen, lies come from the mouth, what we are thinking comes out our mouths, unforgettable hurtful words leads to unchangeable effects.
We all should know or at least be able to see a connection that those who speaks evil and hatred do not lead a long healthy life.
They live in unforgiveness and spew that poison out everywhere they go or even at home. They die from heart attacks, strokes, brain aneurysms, cancer and unresolved anger causes high blood pressure, suicide, murder, dysfunctional adrenal glands, compromised immune system, hemorrhoids, bone cancer, stomach ulcers. Let's not forget broken relationships, broken families, and broken lives.
The list goes on and on for the effects and affect that our words have on our life, emotions, health, life span, and peace.
So our words can kill us because it is a reflection of our heart, and ultimately our true condition.

We should think before we speak and for sure choose our words wisely so we can have a good life that isn't destroyed through foolishness and rebellion against God.
Do not drag me away with the wicked, with those who do evil, who speak cordially with their neighbors but harbor malice in their hearts. PS 28:3

We have been given the gift to build up, restore, to edify, and to speak life into this world with our words. What we believe we speak. Are our words agreeing with the will of God?
If not we still have the free will to choose death and destruction. We can continue to tare down each other through our words. A whole nation, kingdom and world hangs on our words because our words come from our heart and when we speak what we believe we our operating in faith, whether it is for our good or to our own demise. Life or death- nothing vague about it!
I will choose freedom, life and give myself a chance to see the good plan of God's come to pass in my life. This hope becomes reality when my mind, mouth, soul and body willfully line up and do as God has instructed.

But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.

For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned." Matt 12:36-37

Suffer not thy mouth to cause thy flesh to sin ; neither say thou before the angel, that it was an error: wherefore should God be angry at thy voice, and destroy the work of thine hands? > Ecc 5:6

The Mouth That Leads To The Grave

Look at what I've done for you today: I've placed in front of you

Life and Good

Death and Evil.

And I command you today: Love God, your God. Walk in his ways. Keep his commandments, regulations, and rules so that you will live, really live, live exuberantly, blessed by God, your God, in the land you are about to enter and possess. Deut 30:15-16

So Bitterness is expressed through what we say and what we say can kill us.

Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!

And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.

For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind:

For [there is] no faithfulness in their mouth; their inward part [is] very wickedness; their throat [is] an open sepulchre; they flatter with their tongue. Ps 5:9

  • Their tongue is a deadly arrow (Jer 9:8).
  • But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. James 3:8
  • They make their tongues as sharp as a serpent's; the poison of vipers is on their lips. Selah PS 140:3

A man of perverse heart does not prosper; he whose tongue is deceitful falls into trouble. Prov 17:20

"Their throats are open graves; their tongues practice deceit." "The poison of vipers is on their lips.Their throat is a yawning grave; they use their tongues to deceive (to mislead and to deal treacherously). The venom of asps is beneath their lips. Their mouth is full of cursing and bitterness. Their feet are swift to shed blood.Destruction [as it dashes them to pieces] and misery mark their ways. And they have no experience of the way of peace [they know nothing about peace, for a peaceful way they do not even recognize].There is no [reverential] fear of God before their eyes. Rom 3:13-17

When we start having major problems in an area of our lives it's really exposing what needs to be dealt with the most and 1st. So I'm telling on myself, I started having severe problems with my mouth, patience, bitterness, anger and more in the same category. I just kept asking for forgiveness for my words in Jesus name.

One day after running my mouth at everyone in my house. God had me stop and think about what I had said and how many sins I had just committed by having a 5-10 min fit. Well I think it was around 20 sins just from not guarding my mouth. I was shocked and haven't forgot it.

I testify to you that saying evil things invites demons into your house and life. I know because they come running in my house while screaming, yelling and cursing, saying anything sinful will give them an open door to you and your family. Thank God that repentance and ceasing to speak these things will free you from having to live with them. They leave in the name of Jesus once I confess my sins and tell them to leave!

Even my kids start to freak out and tell me there's demons in here now. Or better yet my daughter said to me once " there's demons outside waiting to come in" when I was overly frustrated and speaking the wrong things. Do you know what I did? I shut up and stopped in my tracks. And then I repented. Truth is truth even if it comes from a child!

For where envying and strife [is], there [is] confusion and every evil work. James 3:16

Example : what sins can our mouth commit? Hmm.. bitterness, hatred, unforgiveness, fear, lies, unbelief, false accusations, bad seeds, cursing, defilement of the whole body, strife, pride, on and on.

Strife can tare a house apart>

But get this I was and am real good at not doing or showing this to those who don't live with me. We all can be real good at hiding our weaknesses to those who don't know us. If we can control ourselves willfully in these places, than their isn't a real excuse for not doing it all the time. No more hiding from myself and pretending that it isn't there. For God has brought to the forefront of my life and my attention.

The time has come and God will have His way in my life. This struck me this Sunday at church when bitterness was mentioned and I couldn't stop my eyes from tearing up, and looking away from the pastor when he was looking at me. Realizing I reached the end of denial when I was talking to God asking for Him not to let my mouth kill me. Seriously, kill me- that's how bad it had become.

Of course I was in a spiritual battle and satan was tempting me to destroy myself by my own mouth, my own will. God didn't allow the attack for my destruction but for my deliverance. God wanted me to see what was still inside me. God wanted my complete freedom to manifest.

  • Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. Matt 12:34b 15:11,18,19

  • "But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man. For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies" (Matt 15:18-19).

  • Even a fool is counted wise when he holds his peace; When he shuts his lips, he is considered perceptive. PROV 17:28

  • Scoffers set a city aflame, but wise men turn away wrath. 9 If a wise man contends with a foolish man, Whether the fool rages or laughs, there is no peace. 11 A fool vents all his feelings, but a wise man holds them back. Prov 29:8-9,11

  • Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame.

  • Their mind is on earthly things. Phil 3:19

  • Their tongue is a deadly arrow; it speaks with deceit. With his mouth each speaks cordially to his neighbor, but in his heart he sets a trap for him. JER 9:8

Our mouth shows us what condition we are in spiritually. Having Bitterness inside us our need for to forgive and get a grip on the love of God through Jesus.

Bible Examples of Bitterness

  • Women are bitter because they cannot have children, 1 Sam 1:10.

  • A foolish son is bitterness to his mother, Prov. 17:25.

  • Divine discipline (chastisement) of the Jewish people caused bitterness. This demonstrates the weakness and failure of the people. Bitterness destroyed the people's spiritual lives. The Jews brought on self-destruction by their bitterness.

    Lam. 1:4; Amos 8:10; Ezek. 27:30; Isa. 33:7; 2 Kings 14:26.

  • Slavery causes bitterness, Exo. 1:14.3.

  • Suffering causes bitterness to people who do not understand problem solving devices, principles, and give number one priority to relationship with God. Deut. 32:24.

  • Ridicule is a source of bitterness, Lam 3:14. The people ridiculed Jeremiah because of their bitterness toward him. When truth is taught, people react in bitterness.

  • Consummate human pride is a cause of bitterness, Acts 8:23.

  • Degeneracy is a source of bitterness, Rom. 3:14.

  • Cosmic involvement is a source of bitterness, Eph 4:31.

  • Husbands and wives are a source of bitterness toward each other, Col 3:19.

Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom. But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish. For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work. James 3:13-16

Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: EPH 4:31

For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins. Matt 6:14-16

We also forgive so that our prayers will not be hindered:

And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.Mark 11:25

When we forgive out of obedience to the Lord. It is a choice, a decision we make. However, as we do this "forgiving," we discover the command is in place for our own good, and we receive the reward of our forgiveness—freedom.

Warning / Wisdom From God

He who guards his lips guards his life, but he who speaks rashly will come to ruin. Prov 13:3
He who guards his mouth and his tongue keeps himself from calamity. Prov 21:23
Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth. Prov 6:2
What benefit did you reap at that time from the things you are now ashamed of? Those things result in death! Rom 6:21
For in death there is no remembrance of thee: in the grave who shall give thee thanks ? PS 6;5
The sorrows of death compassed me, and the floods of ungodly men made me afraid .PS 18:4
The LORD hath chastened me sore : but he hath not given me over unto death.PS 118;18

In the multitude of words sin is not lacking, but he who restrains his
lips is wise. The tongue of the righteous is choice silver; the heart of the
wicked is worth little. The lips of the righteous feed many, but fools die for
lack of wisdom. Prov 10:19-21
Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression, but a good word makes it
glad. Prov 12:25
Pleasant words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health
to the bones. Prov 16:24

Death and life [are] in the power of the tongue:
and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. Prov 18:21
Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men,
which are made after the similitude of God.
Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers,
this should not be. James 3:9-10
Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight,
O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer. > Ps 19:14
A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver. Prov 25:11
So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make
every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him. 2 Peter 3:14
If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples
indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.. John 8:31-32
For it is not those who hear the law who are righteous in God's sight,
but it is those who obey the law who will be declared righteous. > Rom 2:13
Clearly no one is justified before God by the law, because,
"The righteous will live by faith." Gal 3:11

Who through faith subdued Kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained
promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched the violence of fire,
escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed
valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.
It is impossible to please God without faith, for he who cometh to God
must believe He is a rewarder of them that diligently (consistantly)
seek Him. Heb 11:33-34,6

I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth? Luke 18:8

Prayer

Father God I come to you and ask that you put a guard on
my mouth that I will not sin against you.
I also pray that you forgive me for all the sins
I have committed against you with my mouth in Jesus name.
I pray and ask of you to convict me every time I do sin
with my mouth and to purge me of this desire.
God you say in your word that no man can tame their tongue,
so I am asking you to empower me and give me the ability
by your Holy Spirit to speak words of life and not death.
I pray that you God will cause me to stand and give you
glory in Jesus name I pray.
