A Disciples Attitude

A Disciples Attitude

Once you become a disciple of Christ, there is a certain way that a disciple should behave.  First, a disciple should have a pure heart to do the will of Christ, and they also should check their heart’s affections.  Second, a disciple should always be mindful of how to conduct themselves as followers of Christ.  Then last of all, a disciple should not love anything in this world more than Jesus Christ.

In order to follow Christ, your commitment must be real and continue until the end of this life here on earth.  Your conduct of how you carry yourself should be in line with the word of God, you must be steadfast, unmovable, and always abounding in the works of the Lord, and never give anyone a reason to point you out as one that brings shame to our Savior Jesus Christ. Don’t get wrapped up into earthly possessions, you need to know that whatever we have here on earth is only a loan.  The attitude that you have toward your possessions, will show others the reality of your discipleship.  Don’t love your possessions to the point where it makes you have to choose between them, and Christ.  Jesus Christ must have first place over all earthly possessions.  Are you one that hold on to possessions with a closed hand and say, these are my possessions, you can’t have them, or do you hold on to them with open hands and say Lord, thank you for trusting me with what you have given me, I realize that these possessions are only a loan, and I am not the owner, if you want them back, my hands are open to let them go, the latter part of these questions, is the attitude that every disciple should have.

Remember, as disciples Christ Jesus is not asking you to do anything that he himself has not done.  Did he not love his father in heaven more than anyone else, even his own life?  Did he not die on the cross for the sins of the world; too make sure that our salvation was secure?  Jesus even renounced all that he had as heir of all things, our attitudes as disciples, can have a major effect on whether others will give their life to Jesus Christ.  Remember, the world is watching you, who confess Jesus; you should be a light for Christ, that shines bright.  You should lift Jesus Christ up for the world to see, and when disciples, do these things, Jesus Christ said that he would draw all men unto him.
