Being A Torch Bearer for God

A torch bearer was one who went before the people to illuminate the path before a group of people could travel, where they where to be going. Had the torch bearer not been present, the people would be just stumbling around in the darkness trying to make their way through the obstacle before them. Imagine a cave that goes for miles end to end. Along this cave there are many torches along the walls. The torch bearer is to go before the people traveling this path and ignite all the torches he/she can find. With each one ignited they are left in there place to illuminate there sphere of influence. Thus illuminating the path so others may know the way.

Each one of us have a specific sphere of influence in our lives. Some of us, if not all of us, should be carrying the light and love of God everywhere we go. Sometimes God will bring someone into your life, that you are to move and ignite, as you travel the path God puts before you. In doing so God will ignite them for Him to illuminate their sphere of influence. People talk of being on fire for God. This Fire can be seen as a passion and a zeal for the Lord. As this fire emerges others are attracted to it. A light shining in the darkness that others are drawn to.

I would like to paint a picture for you. Imagine a match stick. Imagine this match being lit. Notice the flair, and then how the flame kind of mellows out and burns. Now imagine a pile of matches bunched together. Then Imagine this pile being ignited, together at same time. Can you see what kind of difference this burning together as a whole would make?

Well we are the Lamp of the Lord. There is a baptism that is accompanied with the baptism of the Holy spirit. John the baptist said it like this in Matthew 3:11 " I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire." So to say that the very fire of God dwells in US, is not to be outlandish, since we are the lamp of the Lord. So we are not only to have, the Spirit of God, but also the vary Fire of God as well. If your not sure if you have received this baptism, ask God for it? May God ignite a great passion and zeal in you fresh and a new.

As we dwell together as a people, imagine the blessedness of being on fire for God as a whole. Imagine the burning and illumination of that area of influence such as the city where you live! To think of what one match lit in a dark room could illuminate verses a whole bunch being lit together. Quite a difference i believe. God commands the blessing when it comes to unity. Imagine the blessing that would come forth, where an entire community of believer with the common purpose to move with God and reach the lost, could be. Talk about illuminating an area.

Now I just wanted to mention or bring to remembrance the part where God lead His people by a pillar of fire. The children of Israel in the wilderness where led by this pillar of fire in the night. At night it is dark out, correct. Well the days we live in are dark as well. God has established people to be pillars in the house of God. These pillars should be a blaze for God, and leading the people of God in doing so. Can you sort of see the relation to shadow presented. Just something to think about. These pillars are choice vessels filled with Gods Love, passion and Fire..
