Carry Your Cross
Carry Your Cross
“If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.”
Luke 9:23
A truly beautiful woman in the eyes of God is a true disciple of Christ who is willing to carry her cross.
What does it mean to carry your cross? The same thing it meant for Jesus crucifixion and death. This death means being dead to the world, to yourself, to sin. A woman who considers herself as a true disciple must be willing to die each day to herself – to her selfish ambitions, to her sinful desires and to whatever that keeps her from following Christ wholeheartedly. She must rather obey Christ though it may mean loneliness for her, or it may mean suffering or sacrifice, than satisfying her fleshly desires that will disobey His commandments. She has to die to the world, to sin and to herself that Christ may be glorified in her life. She must be willing to forsake everything that will destroy her relationship with Christ.
The faith of a true disciple of Christ is very evident in the lives of the First Century New Testament Christians. One of those Christians is the grandmother of Timothy whose name is Lois. Paul had been reminded of Timothy’s sincere faith which first lived in his grandmother Lois. This sincere faith was reproduced in the life of Eunice, Timothy’s mother, and had become evident also in Timothy’s life. Lois truly lived out the life of a true disciple of Christ. She was able to pass on her faith successfully to her daughter Eunice and then to her grandson, Timothy. Her faith was successfully passed on to her descendant because she has an excellent Christian testimony.
Lois is truly a beautiful model of a true disciple of Christ who lived out the faith of the New Testament Apostolic church.
(Bible Text: 2 Timothy1:5)
The life of a true disciple in our time is greatly manifested in the life of one of my earlier disciple-maker, our late sister Beth. From the time she became a true follower of Christ, her life had been a constant exhibit of God’s glory. Her life, for many, is indeed a shining inspiration for it is a life of utter submission to the will of God. This made ate Beth very special to me and she is indeed a rarity in our modern days. Ate Beth, is an Electronics and Communications Engineering graduate from Pamantasan Ng Lungsod Ng Maynila. Although gifted with a powerful mind, she had not chosen to compete with the talented minds of the world in our time but had resolved to live out God's purposes for her life. She committed her life to a ministry of reaching out for the youth by joining her church campus ministry as a staff. Until her death, she remained a faithful disciple of the [G1] Lord Jesus Christ. [G2]
Be radiant for Christ, be a true disciple.
Be faithful to the One who is faithful in your life.
“We are called to lose our lives for Christ , and in so doing discover the fullness of life in Him. “
