I Saw The Cross

I saw the cross to the sky,

Looking up for help on high

Bowed to me knees I cried

For sin had hidden my joy

I heard His pain

I saw His agony

Stretched out arms

Nails in hands and feet

I had lived solely for me

And so had He

My sins dropped to my knees

They hung Him on the cross

My heart was bruised

My body broken

His was tortured just for me

The skies blackened from my sin

As He hung taking them in

The Earth quaked

The temple curtain torn

Yet Jesus said it was for me

He bore my pain

He quieted my heart

He caused my sin to part

I saw the cross today

I saw an empty grave

I saw the risen Saviour

And I was saved

For I saw the cross today
