Is there a message for you
Is this the true meaning?
Is there a hidden message here about us for today? Is there something Jesus was trying to teach us here?
Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be temptedby the devil. After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.” Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
Now, could the bread represent the material things in this life. Is the devil tempting us with material things like popularity or iphones or houses or cars to keep us so busy we don’t have time to read our Bibles?
Why doesn’t the devil want us to read our Bibles? Because, then we will know how to defeat him when he comes a tempting us. The Word of God is spiritual.
Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down. For it is written: “‘He will command his angels concerning you, and they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’” Jesus answered him, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’”
Could this represent us tempting to make a bargain with God? If I am an alcoholic would it be advisable to go into a bar to share the gospel believing God will protect me? Isn’t it stupid to tempt God to show that He loves us and will protect us?
Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor.“All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.” Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’”
Could this represent us putting our self esteem or career or beauty above God? Do we worship these more than God?
Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him.
Could the fact that the devil left Jesus symbolize the importance of memorizing Bible verses and carrying them with us? We do this so that when tempted we have Gods shield and spear right there handy. I have Bible verses written down and repeat them every morning as if it is like God giving me morning instuction. They are carried in a binder with.
You know, just the other day a temptation came to me very quietly. My imediate respone was "Get away from me satan. I belong to Jesus." The temptation immediatly left me. It was said with true conviction that I know I belong to Jesus.
Prayer: Please Jehovah Jireh (God our provider) open my eyes to Your powerful weapons to defeat the sneaky devil. Guide me to Thy Holy words to carry in my heart and on paper to stand against the seducer when he decieviously approaches me. I ask this in the name of Him who conquered satan for all time Jesus Christ. Amen.
May the sunshine of Jesus’ sweet love bless you today and every day.
