Matthew 28:18-20
“Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Matthew 28:18-20
Took some time off, have not published in a while. Planet earth seems unaltered by my absence, headed in the same direction: down the tubes.
Just kidding around; with a hint of seriousness, actually.
But really, I know we can feel like that. Lots of hard knocks hitting people, some of them our friends. Sometimes us. Days that might make one really feel down, feel scared. Weak and unable to cope. Nothing worse than a chronic ailment or addiction that returns with a vengeance when we thought it was gone for good. Compound that with the sad news a friend who had just won round one with leukemia now has brain cancer. Add the “Ground Hog Day” like repetition of politicians lying through their teeth, an anemic economy and middle age hanging around our necks like a dumbbell of equal and ever increasing poundage.
Makes a loving God look inviting. And that’s just what He is doing in today’s word. Inviting us to come into a place of safety: “I am with you always”. And lest we not forget, despite appearances that may at times seem otherwise, He’s in control. Coming to a close soon, and He wins. We can win as well, free of cost. Cost to us anyhow, as a huge price was paid on our behalf.
News so good we are encouraged to share it with some other people. Perfect and timely instruction for me to get back on the stick and send out some verses.
