My Soul Yearns for You, O Lord

Updated on September 5, 2014

I'm Thirsty

In Psalm 42: 1-2 (The Message) says:

A white-tailed deer drinks
from the creek;
I want to drink God,
deep draughts of God.
I’m thirsty for God-alive.

Psalm 42:1-2 (Complete Jewish Bible) says:

Just as a deer longs for running streams,
God, I long for you.
I am thirsty for God, for the living God!
When can I come and appear before God?
I am thirsty for God, for the living God!
When can I come and appear before God?

Psalm 42:1-2 (AMP) says:

As the hart pants and longs for the water brooks, so I pant and long for You, O God.

My inner self thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and behold the face of God?

In To Me See

These 3 versions of the same scriptures are given to assist you to truly yearn, long and go deeper with the Lord in your relationship with Him.

Your relationship with Him is the most important relationship you will ever have and yet we often do not take the time to spend time with Him. Intimacy is spelt 'in to me see'. I long that you will truly see into Him and know Him as deeply as you can with the help of His precious Word and our wonderful Holy Spirit. It is good to stir up your soul to come to a place of yearning, panting, thirsting for more of Him and His Presence in your life. When you dive deep into His oceans of love you become more like Him. You take in His breath, His thoughts, His heart and as you rise to the surface you receive fresh revelation to take with you into your day. In the natural if you dive too deep you get what is commonly known as the 'bends' This, in its most dangerous form can actually cause death. It causes gas bubbles to form in your arteries because of the great pressure of the waters surrounding you. In the supernatural realm when you dive deep in Him this too can cause death. To self, to your own agenda, to all that you have held on to in life that has come before your relationship with the Lord. The only difference between the two is the greater pressure of God surrounding you the more alive you become in Him. The more of Him is revealed through you. The gas bubbles I liken to the Holy Spirit bubbling up inside of you, quickening the process of allowing Him to encompass you and bring you to His heights where indeed Psalm 42:1-2 becomes a reality.

Soul I say to you

When a deer pants for water it is because it has been on a long journey where it has run very fast, usually to get away from one of its many enemies. It longs for the refreshing waters where it will rest from the trauma and fear of what it has to face daily. As the refreshing waters revitalises the deer and brings it back to life it finds it is able to climb once again to great heights. From the depths of the river to the heights of the mountains where it belongs. The deer requires both to continue to live as it has been created to. So, too, do you require both to live in His Realm with Him. The deeper you go the more alive you will be.

So 'Soul I say to you today, pant, yearn, long deeply for My living God.'
