Online Bible Verses - Psalm 118: Help is Available
“When hard pressed, I cried to the LORD; he brought me into a spacious place. The LORD is with me; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?” Psalm 118:5-6NIV
I can recall a time when I kind of kept God on the shelf for easy access until I needed help. A fairly desperate situation would arise, and I would be on my knees praying like crazy. The personal history video that plays in my head, the memories we all have recorded, shows time and time again that He responded and then I promptly shelved Him once more. This was not easily explained, cause my mom was a power prayer. I saw her praying all the time, she made me pray before dinner and such. So I kept it up until I was into my late teens, then just stopped.
Happy to say that is not the case any longer, as I try to consistently bring Him up front every day right from the start. He is right there to be praised or accessed. He is my friend and Lord, so I keep Him close.
Which leads into the 2nd portion of today’s verse. We have access to the source of absolute power and protection. As such, there is no need to fear. Rather, ask your best and faithful friend for help.
