Rastafari: Calmness of the Spirit

Updated on February 1, 2014

Stay cool and be easy. Jah will pull you through. Wait patiently and listen for your signal. The escape will come and opportunities will arise. Remember opportunities are missed by the blink of an eye. A militancy stance has to be taken in order to analyse and implement a resolution with little resources and time. Staying calm is important in order not to miss that little glimmer of hope every Human Being is entitled to.

Staying calm in the midst of adversaries is very important. The inner soul is similar to crystal clear water with sand at the bottom. If you are walking in the water, then it becomes murky. In order to study your next step, there has to be a calmness to let the entire sand settle at the bottom. Then after, you can see exactly where you are going.

LISTENING

The teachers at my high school use to say “You can never listen and talk at the same time”. Learning can only be initiated by listening. A small child once came up to me and told me “You are a rich man”. This was when I was at my lowest. I interpreted the gesture as mockery because I was not LISTENING. I had missed the signal out of arrogance.

It is a mystery how the lord communicates to his children. If you are not prepared to listen, the message will miss you. Calmness of the spirit is required in order to rid the self of ego. The logical self TALKS TOO MUCH. It is very important to stay calm and wait for a reply from the spirit. It may not be a voice in your head like in the movies. The message may be from a homeless person on the street.

Becoming Calm

Listening more and being humble is very important for the advancement of the human race. Stop the chatter externally and internally. Concentrate on yourself as the universe and then seek the answers within thy self.

Quantum Physics

The uncertainty principle states that you cannot identify an objects motion and exact position at the same time. They are inversely proportionate. Therefore, if you concentrate on your motion through life, you will not worry about your present position.

Concentrate on your position and you will not know your motion through life. Staying calm with the spirit will help accomplish goals. HUB : Controlling Life using Quantum physics.

Most people listen to everyone else except themselves. Society has brainwashed the populace into looking for answers from Google. The tell-Lie-Vision set also delivers answers to those who think its their only hope. You ask your doctor what is wrong with you when you have never asked yourself that question.

Rastafarians always emphasize calmness of the spirit. This is because society, family and friends may stress you out to a point where your personality may become dissociated. Babylon also alters peoples decision making ability through the mass media. The brain is constantly being tested and tried. Therefore, the subconscious and the conscious brain needs to re-calibrate.

In order to calm your spirit, the only option is to remove yourself from the direct influences of Babylon. Sitting on a lonely beach is just find. There is also the option of pretending to leave the house and just chill in the garage. Abstaining from meat or guilty pleasures for a while is also good.

Ecclesiastes 10:4

King James Bible (Cambridge Ed.)
If the spirit of the ruler rise up against thee, leave not thy place; for yielding pacifieth great offences.

Once you have learnt to talk to your inner self and trust your own instincts then you reap the benefits of calmness of the spirit. This passage of scripture also shows that if you are humble, you are less likely to be a target. A person with great rage is less likely to fight another person who is not showing any rage.

Apologizing is also an option. It is one of the factors of a calm Rastafarian spirit. Running away should be the last option. Running can make you look either guilty or weak. Standing your ground through great adversary is always admired. Bravery is built up through periods of calmness.

Making Better Decisions

It is not wise to make decisions while you are alarmed or in a hurry. For example you are trying to enter your house to avoid that suspicious guy that's behind you, but you keep fumbling the keys. This happens because the spirit is not calm.

Staying calm means doing things slowly but surely. Decision making should be done by identifying and evaluating all the factors involved. The final output of your decision is dependent upon keen analysis. For example, the school bus is a block away and you make a dash for the next schedule stop but did not see the neighbours hose on the lawn. Instead you end up in the hospital. Because of not listening to the environment.

Within the Rastafarian movement, calmness of the spirit is similar to doing a puzzle. The harder you concentrate on the puzzles, the more the answers become apparent. Haste can lead to factors not being analysed and negative outcomes.

Avoiding Stress and Depression

Sleep is also a function of calmness. The body needs to undergo repair by removing itself from daily strenuous activities. Therefore, in the morning you are ready to go again. It is same thing staying calm in spirit accomplishes. It rejuvenates you. The less stressed you are the better decisions you make. Rastafarians use calmness of the spirit as a away of fighting stress. Just chill out!!

Staying calm can help us to identify the objects in our lives that are causing stress and depression. Then logical decisions can be implemented to find a final solution to happiness. The self nor Jah is almost never consulted. Babylon is more than happy to fill in that gap that you fail to figure out.
