Book of Praise Lesson Highlights

Petition For God’s Judgment

Theme: Why do the wicked succeed? Although God may seem to be hidden at times, we can be assured that He is aware of every injustice!

The 3rd of seven “penitential” Psalms

~ Psalm 10 ~

Here within this brilliant Psalm, there is a passionate plea for the Lord to intervene! The author is feeling as though God is somewhat distant? Here the Psalmist is a bit remote and wants to feel closer to Him or for the Lord to manifest Himself in some manner? Whatever we are going through, know the Lord is totally aware! He is an Omnipresent God! There are times when we cannot or should not go on how we feel? We must step out of “self!” We must pray, meditate on His Word and seek His path forward! We must instead trust the Lord and His Word to guide and comfort us during whatever we are in the midst of… “Why O Lord, do You stand far off? Why do You hide Yourself in times of trouble?”

The man or woman who is arrogant is usually quite insensitive to the needs of others! “God is not a respecter of persons” though our positions vary; In His eyes we are all uniquely different but equal! Jesus Christ died for us all! Once you truly realize and embrace that God is Omniscient you will begin to see things from a different deeper spiritual perspective.

You should become acutely aware that you will have to answer to the Lord at some point for all your actions… Therefore you should not seek to plot or scheme against others. In actuality they will at some point backfire. Instead, Pray for those who misuse or abuse you… Do not sink to their level… Nor take part in trying to undermine the integrity of others. In actuality they will at some point backfire. OVERCOME evil with GOOD!!! "GOD WILL FIGHT YOUR BATTLES!!!"

Keep in mind the Lord is totally aware of what is going on therefore remain prayerful when you are being persecuted, misunderstood or under attack! You should instead focus on developing a growing desire for the will of the Lord to be done in your life as well as the lives of others. Trust the Lord to see you through and make your path straight! "In his arrogance the wicked man hunts down the weak, who are caught in the schemes he devises.”

We must keep in mind that there is a spiritual battle that is always going on about us! As we move closer to the Lord there are those as well as powers and principalities that be, who do not want you to draw closer to the Lord! Notice what happens when you really dedicate yourself to the Lord... Wicked people want you to stumble rather than move forward and towards the Lord! They will also attempt to hinder whatever you are doing… They will cause confusion and division rather than encourage harmony. One must spend more time in the Word and seek to become more discerning in order or see if something is of God! Rest assured that God always is aware of our intentions!

Here we find that pride can be a hindrance. Do not be upset when wicked people appear to succeed. Balance is key! Neither lack nor wealth should become an obsession. Keep in mind “The earth is the Lord’s and everything in it, the world and all who live in it; for He founded it upon the seas and established it upon the waters.” Psalms 24. In HIS time He will see to it that you have all that you need as you seek His path for you... We are but stewards or caretakers of the people, things or possessions the Lord allows in our lives...

It is important that we acknowledge the Lord in all that we do! The wicked do not seek God’s way they seek to do things contrary to the Word of God. Do not be deceived! We are to “Seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness and ALL these things will be given to you as well.” Matthew 6. When we do this we can also expect to be misunderstood at times. However, again just draw closer to the Lord! Consecrate yourself for the Lord and spend time in prayer, fasting and worship! The Lord should be our first priority as believers! “In his pride the wicked does not seek Him, in all his thoughts there is not room for God.”

God is The Spirit of TRUTH! Here we can see an interesting contrast. When someone lies on you know it is not from the Lord! Rest in knowing it is not true! There is no power greater than the Lord so therefore do not fret or fear! No ill intended curses or threats hurled at you should hinder you from doing the will of the Lord! God is Omnipotent! However one must be aware of the many tactics and strategies of evil doers. As God's child you threaten them... Do not support what you know to be wrong in anyone. When necessary separate yourself from those who bring confusion and mayhem! There will always be those to undermine your efforts to advance the Lord’s kingdom. Do not fear! Keep looking to the LORD! Know ; “You cannot curse what God has blessed.” Numbers 23. When there is much spiritual warfare about you just “Be STILL & KNOW!” Spend quality time with the Lord and seek His direction forward. “His mouth is full of curses and lies and threats; trouble and evil are under his tongue.”

Here in this Psalm we can experience the security and benefits of being in the Lord’s presence. We can call upon the Lord at anytime! In Him we can find sanctuary! It is important to not wait until you are having a problem, at your wits end, totally stressed or are in need! Spend time with Him on a daily basis. Solidify your position with Him. This will help you from becoming so stressed in the first place! This will help you ride out the storms of life under the shadow of “The Almighty!” God is truly faithful! Even when you have not called upon Him; once you do so in sincerity He will rise to the occasion! Call upon the Lord; He is ever present to help us! “Arise, Lord! Lift up Your hand, O God, Do not forget the helpless.”

God truly is able to see us through any situation! It may be hard to conceive but the Lord is totally aware of what is going on with everyone! He knows what has happened, what is happening and what will happen! This is why we should always consult Him above all else! We must get better at listening! The psalmist is trying to help us see that God really does see it all! It is important to know that whenever we are grieving we are not alone. The Lord is right there to help us bear any grief or sorrow! We are never alone no matter who abandons us! Even when you think that you have no one, or you are helpless or defenseless you can always turn to the Lord! God can and will deliver you! He is ALWAYS available! Never Give UP! We can totally trust the LORD! “But You O God, do see trouble and grief; You consider it to take it in hand. The victim commits himself to You; You are the helper of the fatherless.”

The Lord reigns, rules and super rules! He is Sovereign and Supreme! Nations will rise and fall and so will mankind they will come and go... But they will never become as powerful as the Lord! Whenever we are being oppressed we must look to the Lord! The Lord can lift us above the entrapments, landmines and snares that are designed to make us stumble fall! Pray for spiritual discernment and dilligently seek the Lord's will for your life! The Lord is able to rescue us from any trouble! Do not let anyone pull you so low that you become a manipulator… God will and can work any and every situation out for our good!

For many years the United States and the world at large had been oppressed and terrorized by Osama Bin Laden and his many followers… The Lord used President Obama to end his reign of terror. There is always something, someone or some group that is bent on being the continued catalyst for evil. They elect to be the conduit for trouble to permeate the environment. Terrorists of some sort have always been agents of destructive behavior. Now we have ISIS who is at the forefront of worldwide terror... It will only last for a season. LORD HELP US! KEEP in mind; GOOD will always win out over evil! Bin Laden was cast down therefore in time so will ISIS. Let this be an example and reminder that in the Lord’s time He will see that justice prevails! "PRAISE GOD from whom ALL BLESSINGS FLOW" Every GOOD & PERFECT GIFT comes from GOD!

Whenever we are going through we must learn to lean and trust in the LORD! God is truly able! Thank God for Jesus Christ! He is “King of Kings and Lord of Lord! We can have complete and total confidence in the Lord! “To GOD be the GLORY!”

This Psalms concludes saying:“The Lord is king forever and ever; the nations will perish from His hand. You hear, O Lord, the desire of the afflicted; You encourage them, and You listen to their cry, defending the fatherless and the oppressed, in order that man, who, is of the earth, may terrify no more!”

AM Werner , This is a marvelous Psalm! You have made interesting points! I personally subscribe to non violence… But I realize that war is a part of this life. There are many atrocities done in the name of war and terrorism. The situation with Bin Laden was unfortunate and shameful. So many lives lost due to his terrorists attacks… President Obama made it clear from the beginning that he would vigilantly pursue Bin Laden… I personally am not one who is involved in politics in any way… But I believe he responded in a manner that was within his realm of power as a leader... it’s resolve will serve as a deterrent for many. I also realize that others will be fueled by this as well!

I am reminded of my namesake Deborah in the Bible. When she was leading Israel she sent for Barak son of Abinoam and told him” The Lord, of Israel commands you: ”Go take with you ten thousand men of Naphatali and Zebulun and lead them to Mount Tabor. I will lure Sisera , the commander of Jabin’s army, with his chariots and troops to the Kishon River and give him unto your hands.” Judges 4. The point is there are many instances of war within the Word of God this is one of many.

America is experiencing many things, some I believe have a lot to do with turning away from God’s principles… As you stated: “I believe America needs to be very aware of the innocent lives that are being affected by this prolonged effort to stop every radical movement.” This is true! Because of this many are being oppressed unduly, put under the microscope and have had their right to privacy invaded on many levels…. There is always a terrible aftermath because of war… I think we can learn a lot from the Psalms! The Lord is Sovereign! Thank you for sharing your thoughts, In HIS Love, Grace, Joy, PEACE & Blessings!

Psalms 10 focuses so much on mankind's pride and wickedness. It ends so beautifully in defeating the oppression of mankind by other men. The Lord truly sees all the secrets, all the clandestine planning the wicked do to succeed in life. Vengeance is Mine saith the Lord. He is the only one who can bring about true justice. The earth truly is the Lords and the fulness thereof. I can't say I believe there was any real justice done in killing bin Laden. I simply don't believe that one man's violence should ever cause another to commit a retaliating act of violence. But I do believe there is nothing bin Laden did that the Lord did not see - and the Lord shall be judge of what he thought and did. I believe America needs to be very aware of the innocent lives that are being affected by this prolonged effort to stop every radical movement. These movements cannot be prevented and will always be out there. And if we take the same course of action they do, if we secretly plot and plan how to destroy them before they destroy us - in the end, we are no better. There are a lot of poor and desperate people out there who have had their lives ripped apart by war and violence. A peacemaker makes peace happen. I wish this nation and this world had more peacemakers. Peace

God is able to deliver out of all trials. He is able to prevent the trials in the first place. The thing is that trials serve their purpose to make us pure. David's frustration at the wicked florishing is all through the Psalms. David was a man of justice. He asked God but did not question God's Sovereignty. He seems indignant that wicked should exist in the same universe as God. The Psalms were also a reflection of how Christ felt at times. I wondered how many of these thoughts Christ had when he was here on earth. Love you sister DeB.

Very inspiring - an article to read more than once. I was touched by your words, I quote "We must keep in mind that there is a spiritual battle that is always going on about us!" It reminded me of a pastor who said we can't live on yesterday's anointing.

God Bless you for keeping the light of God's Word shining on Hubpages and many other places round the world... :)

God saved my life by allowing me to go to prison for a crime I did not commit, but by no means my life was Holy, He knew my life wasn't pure and I was heading down a road of destruction. There in prison, He knew I would hear His voice clearly. He sat me down and seen me through that situation. I haven't been the same since. Praise God! From Prison to Pastor!!!!! Voted-Up! AMEN!!! GLORY!!
