Thank You Lord for the Holy Spirit!
Numbers 9.18-23
At the commandment of the Lord the children of Israel journeyed, and at the commandment of the Lord they pitched...or whether it were two days, or a month, or a year, that the cloud tarried upon the tabernacle, remaining thereon, the children of Israel abode in their tents, and journeyed not: but when it was taken up, they journeyed...
How wonderful it would be to have a cloud of the Lord over our homes or over us personally that would tell us when to go; where to go; when to stay; how long to stay; what to do; what not to do; etc. Wouldn't that make our decision processes so much easier? Fortunately, although we do not have that privilege, we do have something wonderful - the Holy Spirit! Jesus said, "But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, He shall teach you all things, and bring to remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you." - John 14.26. He also said in John 14.16 that the Comforter (the Holy Spirit) will abide with us forever and in v.17 that He is the Spirit of Truth. "...when He, the Spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth: for He shall not speak of Himself; but whatsoever He shall hear, that shall He speak: and He will shew you things to come." - John 16.13 The Holy Spirit is like the cloud that led the people in the wilderness. He is there to help us; to teach us; to lead us; to guide us into understanding; to comfort us; to convict and correct us; and so much more. When you read scripture, the Holy Spirit helps you to understand. When you pray, the Holy Spirit will often give you an answer or will help you to pray - Romans 8.26. The Holy Spirit will help you in what you say - Mark 13.11. When you aren't feeling like a child of God, the Holy Spirit will remind you - Romans 8.16. When you need help overcoming your carnal ways, the Holy Spirit will help you to mortify the deeds of the body - Romans 8.13. When you die, the Holy Spirit will quicken your mortal body just as He raised up Jesus from the dead - Romans 8.11.
The Lord is so merciful and gracious in that He is always pouring out into our lives - always!
1 Corinthians 2.12
Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us God.
