The Ten Steps To A Good Prayer Life

Updated on December 9, 2014
START THE DAY WITH PRAYER
START THE DAY WITH PRAYER

Total Commitment to Prayer Affects Us

Prayer is communication With God. It is not a one sided communication, it is a commitment to be in touch with the Creator of this universe. It is an opportunity to open up to God and let Him perform his interaction with you. The preparations we make will have an effect on the power of prayer in your life.

Communication is in different forms, such as Writing, Speaking, and Doing. The Words in the Bible provide the Lord God's communication to us. Stating the Words of the Bible with your audible voice, and Putting His Words into action does promote wonderful results to a good prayer life.

Here are some steps to follow that give you a good start on how to dedicate yourself to prayer. And if you learn to listen to the still small voice in your being, it could be the voice of God, giving you response that you need.

HERE ARE THE TEN STEPS TO PREPARING FOR A GOOD PRAYER LIFE

LOVE 1 ANOTHER.

God gave us a commandment. How can we show God attention in our prayers if we don't love our fellow humans?

Give 2 The Needy and Poor

Our actions speak louder than words. He expects us to lose ourselves in order to gain more of Him.

As you pray, 3 Persons in God should Be addressed.

We ask God the Father in the Name of His Son, Jesus, by the Power of the Holy Spirit, then make our request known to Him.

Always ask God 4 the forgiveness of all your sins, known and unknown, in the name of Jesus.

To do so, we acknowledge that Jesus Christ's Purpose on the cross and we enter into His Promise of Eternal Life.

Use your 5 Senses to Locate impending Danger from the Fiery Darts of the Enemy!

Psalm 59. verses 1 and 2 is a good prayer. "Deliver me from my enemies, O My God; Defend me from those who rise up against me. Deliver me from the workers of iniquity, and save me from blood thirsty men."

Try to Fast for 6 Hours Before you Pray.

Fasting doesn't just refer to just food, but to other lustful or greedy desires or behaviors, like indulging in things that have nothing to do with God, like sports or television or shopping. By fasting, you will put your mind in Order so that your attention is on the One and Only SOVEREIGN GOD.

Make God First 7 days a week.

Everyday should be treated as the Sabbath Day, for God has said in the Book of Exodus to Moses, chapter 31, verse 13 states, "...Surely My Sabbaths you shall keep, for it is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I am the Lord who sanctifies you...."

Check everything you 8 every day.

A healthy body means a healthy holy temple for your soul to live in.

Live in the 9 behaviors that make up the Fruit Of the Spirit.

Galations 4:22-23 states, "The Fruit of the Spirit are LOVE,JOY,PEACE, LONG SUFFERING, GENTLENESS, GOODNESS, FAITH, MEEKNESS, TEMPERANCE. against this there is no law."

Do these things 10 times over and over.

The more you put into action your promise to Him Who is HOLY then He will call you By Name when We are taken up with Him on that Day of Glory!!

Taking another look at this I add to my previous comment Amen to that. I have a morning prayer I wrote myself and at night I recite the Lord's Prayer. I read a Bible passage in the morning and in the evening. Knowing the Lord is there to guide me is important to me. Passing this on. God bless.

Very true, Colin. We should all believe in and support Coexistence. If we don't, there is no use in having this to be a harmonious planet. I am happy to know you exist, and instead of feeling bad when bad things happen to you, I should do everything I can to build you up. So if you ever need my spiritual thumbs up, I will be there. You have to believe the outcome that you expect out of your life And speak it into the atmosphere anyway in order to Create the life you want. That is how anyone, regardless of their faith choice, should be. Thanks for your response and take care.

True, pure , genuine words to live by , Christina, and whether one is a church goer or not (or for that matter believes in God or not).

My buddy at work is a born again Christian and he will often say out of a manner of speaking - I will pray for you buddy. Well that is fine with me because we all need a little bit of encouragement or good luck and if it comes in the form of a prayer, well then , so be it. I know that he is my buddy and he means well and that is his way of showing it. So yes I am blessed for having him in my life.

I am quite convinced that people don't necessarily need God in their lives to be good people but that said we should all try to respect each other's wishes and approach that middle ground of debate with an open mind.

Thank you for always 'inspiring' me with your words and thank you too for your support of my writing which means a lot to me coming from a special person like yourself.

Sending sincere warm wishes and good thoughts to you and your family from Colin and his cats , Tiffy and Gabriel, at lake erie time ontario canada 2:34pm

      Good morning CMCastro.

I agree with most parts. One thing I like to do every morning is to have communion. It makes my relationship much closer. Then I sing three songs of praise. A great way to start our day.

      God bless you.

Thank you for sharing. This is wonderful. I have made up my own morning prayer which I begin the day with and at night I recite the Lord's Prayer. God bless.

I'm glad I found this prayerful hub to start my day. I love the videos. It's good to teach the young how to pray, but it is a must for adults to know how to pray. A blind cannot be led to the light by another blind. Thank you.

CMCastro: I enjoyed the ten steps and can agree with most of them, although I do not think #8 is one that I would worry about. Jesus tells us in MARK: 7: 15 "There is nothing from without a man that entering into him can defile him: But the things which come out of him those are they that defile the man." In other words, only our foul words to another can do harm, nothing that we eat or drink.
