The preacher man touched me though his eye's were closed and he was near death. A true story.
He had the most beautiful eyelashes.
Another evening shift at a nursing home
It was time for me to clock in at the small nursing home where I worked as the evening R.N. As I entered the building I noticed an occupied bed that was empty the evening before.
The day R.N. gave me a report on all the residents. She then told me about a new admission she'd received today. His name was Ben. He was thirty-five years old and he was a minister.
He was comatose, eyes closed, nonresponsive to verbal or touch stimuli
He had been diagnosed with bone cancer that had metastasized throughout his body. He had been sent to our facility for comfort care only.
I spent the evening taking care of the residents and occasionally looking in on Ben to make sure he was being turned and cared for.
When the night nurse arrived I gave her a report on all the residents, including the minister Ben. I reminded her that he was not to have CPR and was here only for comfort care.
When I finished my shift and was going to go clock out, I passed his room and decided to stop in once more. I stood far away at the foot of his bed. He remained in a deep coma. I remember how handsome he was. His eyelashes were dark, long and curled almost touching his brow's
The miracle I was allowed to see
Suddenly his eye's opened and he looked up at the ceiling. The most beautiful smile appeared on his face. He then closed his eye's. The smile lingering at the corners. He died that night.
I had always been a believer in God and heaven
When I left his room I was visibly shaken. At the time I was not practicing my faith. I firmly believe I was allowed to witness this miracle.
Just recently this memory returned with a keen desire to share this with my hubber friends.
