What Do You Think Hell Will Be Like?
I can’t tell you for sure what hell will be like because I have never been there but I can give you a good idea of what it will be like. It would be nice if we could have a glimpse of what heaven and hell looks like, but than faith and believing wouldn’t mean much. Many times we hear people tell others if you keep doing what you are doing you will go to hell, and they will say jokingly well all my friends will be there to. And that may be true but I can tell you that in hell there will not be any friends or friendships, you will not be able to reach out to another and say I love you, there is no love in hell.
This is the place of damnation you are in a darkness of all the positive things you once know, you are no longer connected to the love of God, Jesus or the Holy Spirit. There is only rejection, hatred and despair in hell you are blind to all that is beautiful and good and true. Those who are damned to hell are weighed down with a boredom and a emptiness inside where God’s love once lived, they hate themselves for what they are.
Many people will say that if God love is so great for us why don’t He help us see the light, He does but God takes our free will that He gave us seriously. He lets us go our own way; He pours graces on us; He sends messengers into our lives. He knocks on the doors of our souls and calls loudly to us, but if we don’t hear or listen than there is not much more He can do.
In some way the teaching on hell is one of the easiest truths of the Faith to accept, because we see previews of hell all around us. There are so many who not only do evil, they love evil. They go around looking for trouble, violence and hatred are their atmosphere they exist in. Evil begins to destroy us deep within, this is the hell we refuse to come out of, no matter what grace or light God may send. There is one thing the Lord never does, He does not force our will. Our will is our own,God touches, urges, inspires all of that but He never forces. All of this within space and time of our life; at death we leave the chance to change behind, we never change our minds again. We enter into what we have chosen to become.
We need grace to begin to see ourselves as we are before God. We need even more grace to prepare ourselves to live comfortably in the light of goodness and love and truth. We need God’s help to take the evil from within us and replace it with His everlasting love. He is calling us……..will we hear Him?
