   This question is completely filled with conjecture and imagination supposition, and not based on any facts, according to what has already been learned by mankind. Religion was created by those who had power in very ancient times, so to better keep control of those who did not know any better.

   What Cagsil says is probably right and it doesn't really matter from where beliefs, images and concepts are coming from, fact is that people are like children still depending on their parents, they want to be guided and get their orientation from an authority, depending totally and then not needing to decide by themselves.
   This started in the first groups of humans, when a caveman who was more clever than the other, explained to the frightened others were the lightning and thunder were coming from: An angry 'God' one can make friendly by praying to him and making him offerings...
   Nothing has changed, every day new 'religions' are created by clever magicians, today called 'businessmen, banker, politicians, ', when making their advertisements of their 'magic bullets' nobody can be without these, finding satisfaction and happiness consuming these. And if the consume is not enough then this will be upgraded by a more spiritual consume, finding sense and satisfaction in higher beliefs connecting with powers beyond. So back to the caveman magician...
   Are there any grown ups in our society? Absolutely not. Those, who have the power, manipulating all the other, are not more grown up. That's pretty clear. So what? Is there the need to change this? Are there questions showing up about it? Rarely, - there are people who want to change the system, but they are coming out of the system and are trying to use the same means and it doesn't work, for many reasons. The main reason is that they want to change something outside, even using violence, but they are not willing to look at themselves. To start to change anything we need to begin with ourselves and that would mean to take self responsibility and so getting out of dependencies. There are very little signs that in our  present society this will happen so that a change of our disastrous conditions can happen.
   Places like 'HubPages' give the opportunity to ask questions and to find answers so that one can find help in ones learning and growing, but still it is very little used and hubs that are about this topic hardly receive visitors or comments.
   I have given up expectations about it, but I am still writing...

   Religion from the latin Religo meaning to organize a belief system! Ever notice that most are fear based! A perfect way to controll the masses of people!As for the space travelers issue You should read "The 12th. Planet" by Zecharia Sitchin it will give you all these answers and it's irrefuteable.
