Best Tips For Increasing Your Intuition

Updated on August 9, 2014

10 Tips for Increasing Your Intuition

Intuition is an incredibly valuable skill that can help you in work, school, relationships and all around more enjoyment of life! In this site, I'll share with you my top ten tips as well as the best books for increasing your intuition. I am a professional intuitive and use my skills for helping others find the right path for living their fullest potential. Although more difficult, I use intuition for myself as well. My favorite joke is about the two psychics who meet on the street. The first one says to the other one, "You're fine...how am I?"

The Top 10 Ways to Increase Your Intuition

Using your intuition leads to becoming more intuitive

1. Learn muscle testing. You can check your intuitive hunches with yes/no questions. See the links and resource list below for ideas where to start.

2. Pay attention to what catches your eye or ear. Don't worry about what it means, just notice. This is also called Developing The Witness Observer.

3. Ask questions. What's really going on here? What do I need to know? What's the best course of action for me? Then be open for an answer in unexpected ways.

4. Meditate. It quiets the mind and increases your vibration, both necessary for increased intuition.

5. Edit your editor. Most intuitive hunches get edited out before we let them come fully into our minds. Or an intuitive thought comes in and we immediately tell ourselves we're wrong. Counter those thoughts with, "What if I'm right? What would I do with this information?"

6. Learn the energy language of emotions. Check out this post to get started.

7. Listen to your body. A tightening or pulling away is an indicator of things not being right or a "no", while expansion and relaxation is a "thumbs up."

8. Honor your way of perceiving. If someone else has a different sense about something, know that everyone has a unique perception signature.

9. Ask a question about something before going to sleep. Pay attention to the first thought in your head right after waking up.

10. Pay attention to your dreams. Ask questions to get the meaning and let the answers come in their own time.

11. (I couldn't keep it to just 10!) Use divination tools. There's lots out there from Runes to Angel Cards to Alchemy Stones. They're fun and provide lots of info.

Intuitive Tip of the Week: Be willing to be wrong

Intuition is often contrary to your left brain understanding. By being OK with making a mistake, your left brain can relax with its editing mode. Sometimes it takes time to understand what your intuition is telling you.

Very clever of you to publish a lens on how to increase one's intuition. I think I'll try some of your tips. I won't try divination however because it would conflict with my religious beliefs. You wouldn't violate your conscience for the sake of increasing your intuition, would you?

I believe in intuition - or an inner feeling as to how your life's going to go. During my 20s and 30s life was so bad I could see no hope - but some little voice inside kept telling me to hand on in because there was a future. Now married with two wonderful children, that little voice - or intutition - was right.

Great lens on intuition. I come from a very intuitive family so am always used to a parent or a sister calling me and saying "Are you ok? I had a feeling that...". My Dad once called me afraid - I had almost been hit by a bus half an hour earlier and he sensed something was wrong. I use my own intuition through Tarot and it has been a wonderful tool for me. I am currently working on my own card meanings and observations in conjunction with an exercise about how to learn to read the cards so others can also develop their own intuition.

My grandmother had a dream about what my oldest daughter would look like before she was born and it ended up being true. My mom dreamt of me before I was born and said in the dream I had a third eye and it was open. I have been trying to regress and progress my husband to past and future lives but realize he does not trust his intuition at all. I also tend to see what is in people's hearts if looking at their eyes and can also feel their energy if I am near them. I have the sun, venus, mercury and north node in the 8th house plus scorpio in Jupiter, pisces sun and venus... lots of intuition...Sometimes it bugs me actually. Blessing this lens for school bus assignment and sending blessings to you in prayer...

Awesome lens, definitely 5 stars for this lens. Oh by the way just to add on your very informative post: EFT is a method of energy healing that is swiftly applied, direct, versatile and readily measurable. For all these reasons, I would recommend the method for anyone interested in healing work.

I was actually exposed to the method before I even knew what it was. While I was in a group, having EFT training, to absorb information faster I was taught a technique to release and eliminate the over-critical thoughts and behavior we engage in when trying to learn something new. This made the learning process itself a lot more fun, and naturally that sped up my comprehension.

Much later, I was exploring different ways of dealing with emotional pain and inner resistance. I'd mapped out a few different things to try to one was, you might have guessed, the same method from before. Only then had I discovered the name.

This is fascinating! One tip I might add is, "Pay attention to your dreams." If you have an especially vivid one, maybe it's your subconscious trying to tell you something. And I still get deja vu and then realize that whatever's happening now is related to something I dreamed not so long ago. 5* and faved.

      Hi Jaqueline,

Getting intuitive or psychic info when we're not ready at a personal level is very tough. The challenge is to still have your abilities (because they access your joy) and not see what's not appropriate for YOU. One way is to ask your guides to "filter" for you.

I shut down my psychic abilities many years ago when I "saw" the brutal murder of a man's 7 year old son. The father confirmed what I saw and they found the body, but what I saw hurt me so deeply that I didn't want to be that open any more.

      Hi Turbobodhi,

I have heard of this problem. Let me take a look...It looks like your energy body flips backward (orienting to the past) which makes yes become no, energy meridians flow reversed, etc. To correct bring all your energy that's in the past (behind you) into the present (your body) and tell your energy body (like your physical body but an energetic one) to orient forward (toward the future). Give your energy body a chance to shift before checking your intuition. I highly recommend learning muscle testing to double check your intuition. There are some fairly easy methods you can learn in a short amount of time. Check out my lens on muscle testing for several different methods.

You look naturally intuitive so don't give up! Let me know how you do.

I have been working on my intuition skills for some time, and am consistently BACKWARDS or incorrect. I'm getting disheartened! I mediate often, and some days are better than others. Today I was playing psi games at the institute for noetic science website - the game asks you to intuit where something is on the screen. I ask my intuition to tell me what quadrant the object is in. I hear "bottom - left." I choose bottom -left, but the answer is "upper - right" (intuition answers opposite).

The second time I try, I again hear "bottom - left". This time, knowing that I am "backwards" I choose "upper -right" and I am WRONG again - the answer is "bottom - left" (intuition is CORRECT, but compensating for opposite inclination, I am again WRONG).

Help! Am I trying to hard? Is my wiring backwards? Has anyone ever heard of this? It's been consistent like this - for years.

      Thanks!

The energy between the two of you is really sweet. Being secret is allowing it to be protected so it can grow and deepen. The signs look good for eventually going public. Just be patient.

Seems to me you already have found love. Love doesn't care about secret or public. Will you be his companion in public life? Let me take a look...and will answer that in another blurb. They don't give me too much room to respond here! gia

Would I ever find love with this man whom I communicate with in secret? would I ever be his companion in public life?
