    Are military take-overs justifiable?

That is a question which must first be answered by the people within the borders of the country in question. If they think not, then they can share their grievances with the world community.

If a government whether democratically elected or not has become so far removed from the vast majority of the people, or has gone beyond the bounds of its remit, and cannot be removed by the democratic process in accordance with the will of the people, then yes. Without a government there is chaos, so yes I believe there is a case for short term military rule until such a time that democracy can be restored. Military rule is not necessarily evil, it is less than ideal, but it is better than nothing for keeping a country in order.

It all depends on why the military is taking over. In Egypt - absolutely. In other countries? Who knows.
