Can one bathe or brush with tooth paste or drank water when fasting
There are no Christian rules for fasting which is a period of deprivation which creates an emotional closeness to God.There are different types of fasts that people create for themselves;food, entertainment and sex being the most common. To combine different types of fasts together will make it more likely that the fast will be broken pre-maturely due to the severity of the sacrifice.
There is no reason to even consider changing hygiene habits such as washing during a fast;the purpose of which is to give up a major source of worldly pleasure in order to become more spiritually minded.Food fasts should be partial, allowing one or even two small meals a day, limited, for no more than ten days, and never include a restriction of water which in fact must be increased during a food fast in order to maintain health.
