Empathy is being in tune with somebody else's pain or feelings etc. In Victorian times empaths were used to take on the pain of say somebody who was giving birth or were in the last stages of a painful death. The empath would sit in a adjacent room and tune in to the person in the next room and take on there pain allowing them to have a painless pregnancy or painless and peacfull death. Their were other things that they would also help with. Empath still exist today but Alas are rarely called upon. I myself do remote healing.
