Who is this Stephen Hawking character, I keep reading about?
Can he back up what he says with absolute substantiated proof, or is it merely dribble?
Did God surrender and relinquish his powers and authority to teach man, to some mere mortal?

I guess you have no problem believing in supernatural nonsense that has been thoroughly debunked and dismissed.

Where is your absolute substantiated proof?!  Oh! I forgot. You don't need anything but faith.  Geez, I guess faith is the best scientific method to use when searching for a meaning to our existence.

why would we search for what we already know? smile

Matthew 25:32   And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats:

2 Corinthians 6:17   Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.

Stephen Hawkins may be brilliant and thank God He always gives a gift where others lack but SH really means nothing to me, except that he be saved.

Hangin: If this god thing you mention is omnipotent and omniscient why in the world did it not create "perfection" for its creations? Why, for goodness sakes should "it" have to considier this: " Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you."
This lord thing of yours seems not to think things out very well....or it is a psychotic gameplayer with those it says, it created in its image.
I don't think you have thought this out well nor has your scripture made you seem to be a scholar in ref to your monotheistic belief.
In fact you are not a credible hubber ref reality.
Shameful, public display of ones dirth of knowledge.

Hawking is among the, if not THE, greatest physicists alive today.  And yes, he can back up his claim.  The real question is, can you understand his claim?  Can you spend the time to actually read it, all of it including the proof, and then have the mathematical acuity to fathom what he said?  Will you even bother?

Or are you going to get your god defenses up because someone is challenging your belief, or seems to be challenging it, and just start arguing without having any actual idea or deep understanding of what it is you are arguing against?

Anyone who cannot make something out of nothing, or who has not consciously existed from the beginning of time is mere mortal and only knows what he "thinks" is true....

We appreciate Mr Hawking and his dedication to physics...., but if your primary premise is wrong...than, you are wrong....and, for the record, unless your primary premise is in the Word of God, you are....what??? You guessed it,....wrong.

Thank you for your time and attention to this and other crucial matters. Love ya...

I'll let god handle it, mr hawkins said that we should avoid contact with aliens because that would be disastrous, lol... aliens.. hehe.. as if. So since he is obviously wrong about the alien thing, I will appreciate his theories as just that, theories.

You do need to be smart enough to know the difference between fact and fantasy though to even understand the question.

You know, Goddunnit as opposed to all the real world's knowledge.

Does it really matter who he is, or what he says?  Does he have any influence on your life?
It doesn't matter to me.  He has no influence on my life.  He isn't going to stand up and testify for me on judgment day.
I am just going to go with what I believe in my heart and let "science" say what ever they will.  The wisdom of the world.
I would rather have the wisdom of God.

but don't you think the Almighty had a hand, even indirectly, in the numerous scientific achivements through the centuries, since Man was 'created in God's image'? please don't discount science. i am shocked and awed by it. and don't you benefit mightily from the 'wisdom of the world' you so readily dismiss?

      1. stilljustwonderin profile image60
stilljustwonderinposted 12 years agoin reply to this

Oh I agree.  Science has done wonderful things.  We would be living with out all the modern technology that we take for granted today if it wasn't  for science. Yes, and I believe God gave man the wisdom to do this.  I believe in faith healing, I have seen it happen.  I also believe God gave man the knowledge to heal with medical science.
What I dismiss is the science that tries to disprove God.  No, Hawkins didn't say that.  I do believe that is the purpose.  Why else would they be trying to figure out how it was all created?  Does it really matter?  It was created, it is here, lets take care of it.  I do think that all this money that is being spent to figure things like this out could be better spent else where.
How ever they prove it happened, I believe God is involved.

yep lovely, technology like the atomic bombs so some psychopath could drop it on some humans. Germ warfare.. nice... sars anyone? How about mass production of goods and foods.. GM food anyone.. how about oil rigs that pollute our waters... how about chemtrail spraying because rockets keep punching holes in the ozone layers.. how about the advancement of war machines, how about ninetendo, so kids can spend way to much time doing nothing. shrinking of the rain forest in brazil just for some money. How about spending our whole lives makin money so that moth and rust and time could corrupt so we could go out a buy it again.. Bankers perhaps could cause another stock market crash, watch a few suicides and gain some more influence. How about all the time spent watching stupid movies and shows that only stunt our personal development and then theres the frivolous amounts of time in the forums on hubpages lol.. atheists goin nowhere, christians getting stronger in their faith.
Yah evolved monkies governing themselves, what a mess.
apparently america kills more babies per year than god did when he purified israel that one time.

its not wisdom of the world. The world has no wisdom. Wisdom is clever, smart, wieghing equally both sides, the good and bad and leans toward the good always.
Man just does what makes a dollar. That is not wisdom that is folly.

Steven Hawking 'dribbles' (as you say) because he suffers from motor neurone disease.

I am going to be charitable and surmise that you had intended to use the word 'drivel' and that it was not your intention to be offensive.

If you want to find out who Steven Hawking is and what all the fuss is about I would suggest that you read, 'A Brief History of Time': the eminent professor's take on present understanding of the cosmological laws that govern the Universe.

As for God being replaced - well that would be impossible - you cannot replace something that never existed in the first place.
