Disney's New Annual Pass for Florida Residents Now Available for Floridians!

Updated on July 9, 2018

Earlier this year, Walt Disney announced they would be creating a brand new annual pass option to accompany their current lineup. This one however would be specific to Florida residents. It is known as the Florida Resident Theme Park Pass and it would include the following features.

  1. Gives guests the chance to enjoy at least 325 days of access to select theme parks.
  2. Will at least give 175 days of access to all 4 theme parks throughout the year.
  3. Disney will assess and possibly lift Blackout dates thus giving guests more days to visit theme parks.
  4. Is available for $439 annually or $29 monthly.

The new Florida Resident Theme Park Select Pass was made available during a pivotal time for Walt Disney World. As many people know, Disney's Hollywood Studios is receiving numerous updates with the first, Toy Story Land, recently opening.

Extending off of Pixar Place, Toy Story Land is a fun-filled area that either "shrinks guests" or "grows toys" to a size we can all enjoy. To be honest, the extension seems small in comparison to the park as a whole as it is technically smaller than the whole of Pixar Place, but it is just one of many updates Disney's Hollywood Studios will be getting. Ergo, it is forgivable.

There are four major attractions or spots with the new Toy Story Land. The first is Toy Story Mania, an interactive area for guests. Second is the Aliens' Flying Saucers, a ride similar to the Teacups ride in Disney's Magic Kingdom. And third is the place's eatery, Woody's Lunch Box. However, the ride everyone has been talking about is the roller-coaster Slinky Dog Dash.

The opening of Toy Story Land in Disney's Hollywood Studios is actually one part of a huge event Walt Disney World is having for the summer known as Incredible Summer.

In Disney's Magic Kingdom, Tomorrowland is releasing a "Super" celebration to celebrate the release of Incredibles 2 in theaters. The area will be decorated with Incredibles 2 decorations and many of the supers from the movies, including the designer of superhero outfits Edna Mode, will be available to interact with guests.

In Disney's Animal Kingdom, Donald Duck will host a summer celebration in Dinoland U.S.A. He will be joined by his friends and family including Scrooge McDuck and Launchpad McQuack. Also, the new UP! A Great Bird Adventure will open in which Russell from Disney Pixar's Up will showcase birds from around the world.

Finally, Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy will invade Disney's Epcot to celebrate for the summer too. Leading up to the new Guardians of the Galaxy ride which is believed to open either later this year to early next year, Starlord and Gamora will rock the house on stage as they sing and dance in an event that will have guests partying the night away.

Florida Resident Theme Park Select Pass worth it?

We know that Disney made the Florida Resident Theme Park Select Pass available at an opportune time. However, is it truly worth it compared to other Disney annual pass options. Well, it depends on what you want.

First and foremost, the Florida Resident Theme Park Select Pass is almost similar to the Disney Silver Pass in almost every single way. Same price for both annual and monthly payment options. Same access to all four theme parks. Same free parking. The difference is that the Disney Silver Pass has park hopper privileges. This means guests can visit more than one park per day. As for the Florida Resident Theme Park Select Pass, it has an extra discount of 20 percent on more items sold in Disney stores.

To be frank, I know many Floridians try to go to Disney during the weekdays because they are less busy compared to weekends. In that case, the Disney Weekday Select Pass is probably a better option. It has all the perks of the Disney Silver Pass but costs only $289 annually or $16 monthly and guests can only go during weekdays.

Ultimately, the choice depends on a guest's situation. To view more details about the Florida Resident Theme Park Select Pass as well as other annual pass options, you can check them all out at Disney's official website.
