First Step to Getting a PA Freshwater License online

The first step you'll want to do is go to www.fish.state.PA.US/license.htm

Step Two

Choose how you want to get your license. For this article, we'll focus on Select Online with Credit Card

Step 3

Select the radio button called Select Purchase Fishing / Hunting License On Line.

Then click the Start Here button at the bottom of the page.

Step Four

Choose your method of identification.

I chose Driver's License Number.

Enter the state your Driver's license is issued from. In this case I chose PA (since that is where my drivers license is from.)

Step Five

On the same page, enter your driver's license number and date of birth.

Step Six

Verify (honestly) if you are a resident of PA or out of state resident.

Since I'm a Pennsylvania resident, I of course chose PA resident.

Then fill in all of your contact information, followed by what you are applying for.

The site struggled to recognize my address. I live in an apartment so I removed the comma between my apartment number and street address and it allowed me to proceed.

Step 7

Choose the specific license that you want. For this article, I selected the fishing license.

The PA Wildlife site will also prompt you to buy other optional stamps. I selected the optional trout salmon stamp to go with my license.

Step 8

Enter your payment information.

The next page that appears will be a PDF showing your license (and applicable PA trout salmon stamp)

Print out your license.

Be sure to sign your license as it is not valid without signature.
