Dining Reservations
Even though the Christmas party dates may not be released until late summer, the dining reservations won't wait.
If you want table service reservations on the night of the party, you'll need to take advantage of the 180 day (6 month) reservation window and go ahead and book your restaurant and time.
If your guess on dates proves incorrect you can always call and cancel but as the party days get closer, it is very hard to find table service reservations.
Table Service Restaurants At Magic Kingdom
- Be Our Guest
- Cinderella's Royal Table
- Crystal Palace
- Liberty Tree Tavern
- Plaza Restaurant
- Tony's Town Square
All of these require a reservation in order to dine. Once you know when you will be attending the party, you can count back 180 days and make your reservation on that day. Call 407-WDW-DINE for fastest service.
If you opt not to have a reservation, there are other food options. Cosmic Ray's counter service is open the entire party.
What To Do At the Party
Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party usually offers multiple acitvities and events for the whole family.
You can see parades, fireworks, meet your favorite characters, see holiday themed shows and ride all your favorite rides.
Here are some of the events that you can choose from while you are at the party.
Event
| Time
| Hints
|
---|---|---|
Christmas Parade
| 8:15 and 10:30
| The second parade is less crowded than the first. Go ride some rides during the first one.
|
Fireworks
| 9:30
| These are special, holiday themed fireworks. The downside is that you will eat up some time if you try to wait for a good viewing spot.
|
Castle Stage Show (Holiday Themed)
| 7:45, 10:05 and 11:20
| The last one is usually less crowded.
|
Tomorrowland Christmas Show
| 7:45, 8:45, 9:55, 10:50 and 11:45 pm
| This one fills up quickly so get there early if you want to go.
|
Character Dance Parties
| Most of the evening
| The characters will not do autographs at these sessions. The special map will show you where you can get these.
|
Open Rides
One of the best perks of the party is the short-to-no-wait lines for all of your favorite rides. Guests can ride all night until midnight.
As the evening gets later, the lines get even shorter.
If you aren't interested in the parades or fireworks you can go on the rides then. If you are over at Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain during that time, though, you can get cut off by the parade route and will have to try to weave through the crowd using the wooden boardwalk by the water.

What Time Can I Get In?
Officially, the party starts at 7 PM. However, insiders know that you can usually start entering the park any time after 4 PM with your party ticket.
You can also get a wrist band at Guest Services if you are already at Magic Kingdom that day.
To get in, look for the party entrance gates and the cast members wearing red and green.
Once you enter, a cast member will put a wrist band on you, indicating that you can stay in the park after the 7 PM closing.
Your best bet is to head on in, away from Main Street. Once 7 PM hits, the street gets crowded as the day people are living and the party attendees are entering.
Is Mickey's Christmas Party Worth It?
If you enjoy the Magic Kingdom but hate the long lines, then Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party is definitely worth your time and money.
The parade and fireworks can put everyone in a good holiday mood.
Before you go, you should decide what your priorities are for the party. Do you want to see the parade and fireworks? Do you want to get maximum ride time? Are shows your thing?
You'll find that the five hours dedicated to the party go by quickly.
If you enjoy special events like Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, you might consider the Not So Scary Halloween Party or taking advantage of Extra Magic Hours.
Both provide other opportunities to get into the parks when there are less people and less lines.
With a bit of planning, your whole group can have a fun evening.
