The Fair, The Fair Is Coming

Updated on August 19, 2013

The County Fair is coming

It's almost here. The Los Angeles County Fair will be here September 4, 2010 to October 3, 2010. As usual I will be there as much as possible. I'll write a follow-up hub at the conclusion of the fair.

If you read my previous hub on the fair, "I Went To The Los Angeles County Fair," then you'll understand my excitement. I'm legendary among my friends and family for being a habitual fair attendee, and a self proclaimed aficionado of all things L. A. County Fair. I try to attend at least ten times, I usually manage no less than five most years.

Why I'm So Excited

My excitement rivals any child's. I love the live animals, the food, the exhibits and more, much more. If I'm on a diet, (which I usually am), I throw it out the window for that time. One reason is at the fair you can get anything fried, from chicken to a fried Twinkies, and anything in between, actually I can't think of anything that hasn't been fried at the fair. There's food from all corners of the world, and I try to sample it all. Not only will I have to go on a diet after the fair, but I'll have to do a whole body cleanse. But I don't care about that, I plan to enjoy myself to the full. I usually buy a season pass, this year it is only $24, which allows admittance to the fair any day any time.

I've managed to convert previous none fair lovers into dyed in the wool fair attendees. One of my daughters also share my excitement. I actually love going to the fair alone most times, because I like to take it all in without feeling the pressure to move on. Of course I do share the experience with others, so they to can gain the benefits from attending. Benefits, yes there are benefits. Not only are there new items being introduced to the public, but there are educational events, exhibits, classes etc. The 4H Club always attends and bring their animals raised from infancy. There are pottery classes, craft classes, we're also educated in animal husbandry. I could go on and on, and I will in my follow up hub after the fair ends. Oh, who am I kidding, I don't go for the benefits, I go for the sheer fun of it all. Take my word for it, it is loads of fun.

So if you're anywhere near Los Angeles, California, USA, during this time, why not stop over. I guarantee you will have the time of your life. And if you're nowhere near and won't be, go over and live vicariously through my hub, "I Went To The Los Angeles County Fair," and be on the lookout for the follow-up hub to this one.

Well I gotta go now and get ready. By the way I probably won't be hubbing much during this time, so my writing hiatus will continue through September.

Oh, Lady E, I really did enjoy it, but my enjoyment was not complete, because I missed so much of it. I just finished the follow up hub to this one, and it explains in detail how much I enjoyed it.

      Hi Fastfreta

Hope you enjoyed it. This comment made me laugh: "I like to take it all in without feeling the pressure to move on." I know that feeling...

      Best Wishes. :)

Sounds like great fun. I haven't attended a fair since my youth. Not only is it fun, but you get great exercise in walking. I've turned into a hermit, cause I hate dealing with rude people and their equally rude brats. Maybe this year I may attempt to go to our county fair. It is a good show of community. Beautiful hub

There are many likes you and I share Fastfreta, and attending the local county fair is one of them. My favorite part is the food. You can't find a better corndog anywhere other than at the fair. - Hey! That rhymes. LOL. It's nice to hear from you again.

Glad to see that you are in the mood to go to the fair. Have fun for me too. I like kettle corn the most. Eat some for me and everybody else that can't get to the fair.

Thanks bayoulady, yes I am very excited. As a matter of fact, I just got back, and as usual I had a wonderful time. I went with my oldest son, who was visiting me from Arizona, and he too had a very good time, at least that's what he said. I bought a season pass, so needless to say I will be back many more times.

Hi fastfreta! I think my favorite thing about the L.A. County fair is the commercials. I haven't seen one this year, but I remember the ditzy chicks in the ads, putting on mascara on bumper car rides, etc.! So cute!

Anyhow, we have a tri-county fair that's just opened this weekend. Here in the Eastern part of the state, we jumble together 3 counties to make it work. There's not much in terms of population around these parts!

Enjoy, enjoy-as I did your hub!
