Does anyone still think Liverpool Football Club can still win the English Premier League?

I didn’t believe at the beginning of the season that Liverpool had a team capable of winning the Premiership.

It was apparent from last season’s form that they needed to improve the squad and reduce the reliance of Torres and Gerrard. In my opinion the squad has been weekend by the departure of Xavi Alonso and with Aquilani still not match fit, we are unable to determine if he is a suitable replacement.

I do not believe Benitez is making the most of Yossi Benayoun, one of the few other impact players in the squad.

Liverpool have already lost more games this season than they did last season.

They are 9 points (or 3 wins) behind Chelsea at the top of the table and would be relying on some pretty major dips in form from the other teams currently above them.

I would say that Manchester United have still to hit top gear, Arsenal are capable of playing all of the other premiership teams off the pitch and Chelsea do not look like losing any time soon.

Champion’s league qualification is a must for Liverpool, realistically finishing in the top 4 should be their priority. The financial consequences for them would be very severe.

I concur with Hublim but I think the Vagaries of the game may still allow them a shot at 2nd or 3rd if any of the top three mentioned should hit a really rough patch (more likely I think with Man U than the other two) before say January. From Feb on I don't see how they could catch any of them if the positions remain static.

I am not backing off my prediction at the beginning of the season that Arsene Wegner would tactfully make the young Arsenal squad he was given, one of the best if not the best team in the league.  Benitez started with far more established talent and has proven he is not in the same league with that man.  Liverpool needs a coach that build a team, not simply assemble great players and expect great results.  With Benitez at the wheel, they will never win it.

I must admit that, up until the Birmingham game, I thought we still had an outside chance.

However, the terrible result (but not display) against Birmingham tells me that this will not be our year.

Injuries or otherwise, it just isn't happening at the moment unfortunately!

Obviously by now the question can be answered by everybody who watched the premier league but it is not too late to fight for the champions league next season. Come on guys, Europa league is so embarrassing to play in. Liverpool should be competing in the highest level. We Liverpool fans know that winning the league is a bit out of reach at the moment because we lack the consistency that man u and arsenal has but Champions league is like LFC holy grail. 5 times European champion for goodness sake.

Torres leaving us was a downer. Really. He was so so beautiful in his dribbling and techniques but life has to move on. Suarez has been great since the January window and Caroll being the big Englishman is a plus for us. Though the price should be a bit over the top for his experience.

Yes, for sure, one day Liverpool will win the premier league. They are the most honored and historical football club in the history of club football. They have already won 18 premier league titles and I'm hopeful that they will get back to wining terms soon.
