Do you think the NHL should do more to discourage illegal hits?
Already in the 2012 Playoffs, we have eight players suspended, make that nine if Raffi Torres gets what is coming to him after last night's vicious hit on Hossa. Do you think the penalties are enough of a deterrent?
The league needs to do a better job of stopping the cheap shots which many times lead to the penalties. The approach has always been to let the boys play but there is always a point where it goes too far...yes the league should do more...cheers
I think the NHL needs to do more about cheap shots and head shots, NOT illegal hits. It is important to remember that hitting is part of hockey, so punishing players that deliver a body check is not good for the game. That being said, if players go out with the sole intention of injuring somebody, they should face severe suspensions. The first round of this season's playoffs has been a complete circus, and the league has completely dropped the ball. They have become dominant over the last month. After starting 9-8, they have won 16 of 17 games. Does the Heat stand with the elite of the league? Or, is it bacause most the teams they played, were .500 or below? Their flow, as a team, is better now but, that's a lot of ego's.
