    Vince Lombardi was one of the most successful pro football coaches in the United States during the 20th century.  During the period 1959-1967 when Lombardi was head coach of the Green Bay Packers, the Packers won five league championships and two Superbowls.  He was a great teacher and motivator to his players.  Before coaching the Packers, Lombardi was an assistant coach with the New York Giants.  Lombardi was also a high school Latin teacher before going into coaching,  After leaving the Packers, Lombardi coached the Washington Redskins for one year in 1968, and then died shortly after of cancer.

      One book is titled "Vince: A Personal Biography of Vince Lombardi" by Michael O'Brien, 1987, HarperCollins Books.  A more recent book is "When Pride Still Mattered: Lombardi," by David Maraniss, 1999, Simon & Schuster.  These should get you start
