Should the English Premier League institute a playoff system?
I think it would be great to have a four-team playoff in the EPL. Make two divisions and have a mini tournament. Top two teams in each division play each other. I know purists would be angry but that's their problem. Both the MLB and the NFL have expanded their playoffs over the years and are better for it.
Absolutely not, and to call that a "purist" mentality is to make it look like the minority view. It's the common view that English football shouldn't become like American sports. The English and Americans have vastly different expectations for their sports. That's why American sports aren't very popular in the UK.
