Should the NFL eliminate kickoffs?
I say absolutely not. Starting the game with a kickoff is still very exciting. There are so many players in the NFL who would not even be in the league if it weren't for special teams. Kickoff return TDs are even better. So many things can happen, why ruin the game? You can make it safer with better equipment, better healthcare and higher pay.
It would suck if kickoffs were eliminated. Like you mentioned, the kickoff is one of the most exciting aspects of football. I know that safety is a concern, but kickoffs are a part of the game.
Leave the kickoff. What better than waiting all off season, then to see the first kickoff off the regular season. its awesome! Also how exciting is the 100 kickoff return? Amazing! Sure safety is a concern, but what part of the game isn't? The whole game is a safety issue. Its a physical hard hitting game.
Whether kickoffs are eliminated or not, I'm more concerned with who gets to make that decision. If it's the government trying to impose its will in yet another matter outside its authority, then I'm most certainly against it. It should be a decision for the NFL.
