Can I quote a section in a rulebook?
(In quotes and italics) or will that be looked at as duplicate content by HP? I have an article that features one small section of a rulebook, word for word in that rulebook, but it is in italics and quotes and the section leads with the name of the source and rule number. Please, I'd like an official word on this because I don't want to get tagged for duplicate content. I have run this all through copyscape and it does come up, as I expected it to. How do we handle quoting from an official text? Thanks.
Two things will probably keep it from being seen a duplicate content. First, use the quote button to set it apart from all of the other text and it will be seen as a quote. Also, if what you do quote is only a small part of your hub with all of the other text being your original and unique content, you should be ok and not get the duplicate content warning.
Thanks Sheila, I hope you're right. I've never used as quote button before, I'll have to find that, can you tell me where it is? (I don't see it directly on the page). Yes, everything else is my content. Thanks for the tip!

I am doing a 20 "such and such" quotes about "such and such" hub. I even went back in after they marked it duplicate and made sure 400 of the words are my words, even though I know people googling it aren't going to want to read my words and are instead just going to be coming...

I just wrote a quotes hub and it says duplicate content - which I can understand as probably 80 % of the hub is quotes copied and pasted from the internet. However is this normal for quotes hubs and do you ask for the duplicate content penalty to be removed or just carry on and ignore it!
