Is it right for athletes to kneel during the national anthem at sporting events?
Not exactly, but I don't think it is "wrong". It is entirely up to that person if they want to demonstrate respect.
As much as I dislike it sometimes, I think they do have the right to do what they wish when it isn't hurting anyone. It wouldn't feel right to me if you could be criminally charged for not doing something like that.
