LeBron James doesn't want to play without fans at the stadiums

Due to the coronavirus, various sporting events from the NBA, NHL and others having to put their seasons on hold indefinitely due to the pandemic, while other leagues like the XFL had to outright cancel their first season comeback entirely.   However, according to various sources, the NBA is contemplating the possibility of resuming the NBA season later this year around as late as September or later this year, while following China's basketball league's current model of having the players tested regularly and having them play in empty stadiums without any fans at all.

This is an option that not just  the NBA is considering, but various other sports leagues are considering as well that had to put their season on hiatus.   However, LeBron James doesn't want to play in a stadium where there are no fans to watch them play, as he feels the crowd in NBA games always play a pivotal role.  Whether it be when you're playing on the road wanting to play great to shut your critics up that are rooting against you, to even feeling more energized to play harder when things are down as your hometown crowd cheers you on to victory.

While LeBron's sentiments do sound admirable, even if they probably are more self serving, I don't think LeBron James will have much of a choice if that's the only way the NBA season can continue for the rest of this year, but what your thoughts on this?   What should the NBA do if they even resume the season at all?

As a competitive sports player both currently and in the past I can say that certain people depend on the crowd, while others do not, and even further some of us absolutely hate the crowd because they're a distraction. As for whether or not they should play in an empty stadium... I would have to say this sounds like the NBA just wanting to keep their profit margins stable and isn't really considering what the players want.

I always felt seasons should go year-round rather than sticking to strict schedules, so as to get B-team players a chance to shine more often, so I could care less when or even if a season gets started. The whole idea of seasons is outdated, creates artificial exclusivity, and doesn't take into account the ones playing or sitting on the bench watching others play.

Also, just for a closing note, I hate basketball. I used to play it when I was young, sinking threes all day long, but just like when I tried soccer I hated all the running and flopping.
