This is an actual quote from Ferguson, from""There is no doubt he has been helped playing alongside the experience of Rio and he is now arguably the best defender in the country."

This is a joke surely.....The arrogance and ignorance of Man UTD and Ferguson never fail to amaze me....If Evans is the best defender in the UK (not just in the PL but all comps), then there is a serious problem with the already questionable standards of the English Premier League and their corrupt referees, etc....

In my opinion: probably Micah Richards. Zabaleta from Man City also good. As much as I don't like John Terry, must admit he can still put in match deciding performances. Bottom line is, you could name many many good defenders from the PL, but Johnny Evans should never be on the list.

I just hope, that the reason Ferguson is praising Evans, because he wants to get rid of him at end of the season.....

they play more full-back roles and in centre back theres no way there better than him.

I've been a big critic of Johnny Evans in the past and always saw him as a mistake waiting to happen, but on current form, there aren't many defenders playing better than him to be him, other than maybe Vincent Kompany.  With Vidic being out for the season as lot of responsibility has fallen on Evans' shoulders and he has stepped up and performed consistently well.  United are sitting on top of the league and a strong defence is a big part of that, because there midfield is pretty poor.

Not as bad as Roberto Mancini.. " Van Persie is up there with the best strikers in Europe along with Messi, Ronaldo, Aguero and Balotelli"! Maybe Aguero but Balotelli should be nowhere near even the top 10 strikers in Europe.
