Sometimes the hands get so much work that most of us fail to stop and check how they are. For those of you who get a lot of manual work or exposed to extremes in weather conditions, you can protect your hands with these tried and tested tips.

A hand massage

Before hitting the sack it would do your hands good if you give it a couple of minutes of gentle massaging. Before starting this, rub your palms together to warm your hands. Then you start by rubbing the palm of one hand at the back of the other hand. This stimulates blood circulation which helps cells to repair.

Use moisturizing lotion and essential oils

In order for a massage to be more effective, you can use a moisturizing lotion enriched with vitamin E or essential oils, such as olive oil or coconut oil. You can even slather on some Vaseline and leave it on before going to bed. You’d be surprised to have very soft hands in the morning. You can even apply and reapply this during the day at least 4 times.

SPF protection

Your hands should also get appropriate sun protection to keep it from premature wrinkles and sagging. When applying make sure to slather on some amount at the back of your hands since this is the part that is most exposed.

Use natural soaps for hand washing

A lot of the soaps available in the market today are harsh since they contain alcohol and detergents. Instead of these, opt for cream-based soaps so it can be gentler on the skin.

Protect the hands from cold

The cold winter air can be harsh to your hands leading it to dry and eventually crack. Make sure to protect them from the cold by using gloves or mittens, and make sure that you have spared just in case it gets damp.

Protect your hands when doing housework

A lot of housework can expose the hands to soaps and chemicals leading it to dry or even flake. To avoid this, make sure to protect your hands using gloves when doing your washing, scrubbing and cleaning. This also protects the nails from drying and cracking.

Exfoliate your hands

Exfoliation is one of the best ways to ensure softer hands. You can do this by using bath salts to remove old dead skin cells from the surface. You can also make your own natural exfoliating solution by taking some lemon juice and a teaspoon of sugar. Together this can help remove rough skin and leaves a softer layer behind.

Try Thermage CPT Treatment

One of the fastest way to give your hands a total makeover and a softer feel is through CPT. This is a non-invasive treatment that uses a machine which delivers radiofrequency energy to the skin stimulating the underlying layers to tighten. This results to a younger looking skin almost immediately. You just have to make sure that this is done by a certified doctor who knows the machine and the procedure perfectly well.
