The Inevitable Aging Skin

Every woman wants to look younger, especially after age 40. That is when most women really start noticing the crow's feet, lines around the mouth and across the forehead. Some women have resorted to Botox injections, but so many scary stories are out about the ways this can go wrong, many women are afraid to even consider it.

It is a fact that skin becomes less moist as we age. The skin becomes noticeably dryer and older looking. One way to combat these effects is to exfoliate regularly. One can do this with an abrasive facial scrub and a washcloth. But I have found something much better, that gives instant results, leaving the facial skin not only cleaner but younger looking. And it only about $20!

Skin Cells

Our skin is amazing! Our top layer of skin dies and replaces itself completely about every 30 days. The cells reproduce and a new layer of skin is formed. This is why superficial wounds heal themselves with little help. The dust that we see collecting on furniture and surfaces in our homes is comprised mostly of dead skin cells! Gross! As the old skin cells die, the new skin cells emerge, slowly replacing them.

Skin Exfoliation

Microdermabrasion and chemical peels are ways to exfoliate the skin quickly, but they come with a huge price. Another more affordable option, is daily exfoliation of the facial skin. Revlon and Olay have offered products that allow for exfoliation of the facial skin using a hand-held device along with an abrasive facial scrub. Using this tool, skin becomes clean, pores are unclogged, and the chance of acne is reduced. But the best benefit, in my opinion, is that many of the top skin cells are removed, creating more radiant and beautiful skin.

Olay Pro-X Advanced Cleansing System

Here is one consumers opinion of the Olay Pro-X Advanced Cleansing System, "I was giving a spa treatment as a gift, and I had a professional use a "top of the line" cleanser on my face. My face was so clear, bright and soft after, I wanted to be able to do this at home. I looked at models similar to what the spa used, but $200? No way I can afford that. Then I found this system, and for something under $25, this does a job almost equal to the treatment in the spa..."

In addition, most drug stores are offering their own version of the Olay Cleansing System at even lower prices. In my opinion, most of them are very similar in strength and performance.

Revlon Skin Renewal Cleansing System

Revlon suggests, "For healthier glowing skin use revlon’s new skin renewal cleansing system. They say that the spin technology system cleans better than vibration because it gets deep into the pores removing all dirt and oil. It requires 2 aa batteries that are included in the initial package and it has 5 attachments: 1 exfoliating brush, 1 blemish extractor, 1 rolling ball massager and 2 cleansing sponge applicators.

Do you use a mechanical skin exfoliator?
