Updated on June 9, 2012

It seems that everywhere you look everyone is chasing the fountain of youth and trying to turn back time. You probably have bought countless anti aging products in hopes of doing just that to remove all those unwanted wrinkles you see staring back at you in the mirror only to see no real difference.

Now I believe when using anti aging products to be realistic in what one expects and to not expect an over night miracle. The wrinkles and age spots you have did not appear over night and certainly will not go away that easily.

So do any of these products work and deliver on their promises?

I have tried many products on the market that tout outlandish claims that their product will erase years off your face only to end up frustrated and disappointed with no real results until I come across two of my personal favorite anti aging products seabuckthorn oil and the use of a deep penetrating light.

Seabuckthorn is great for your skin and packed full of antioxidants and vitamins. Phototherapy treatment uses pulses of red and infared lights to penetrate deeply into the skin to repair and heal skin cells along with promoting increased collagen making your skin smoother, softer and less wrinkles.

Since using both these products for a number of years I have seen an incredible difference in my face in skin tone, smoothness and wrinkles.

Ingredients To Look For In Anti Aging Products

When shopping for anti aging products there are certain ingredients that you should be on the look out for:

Sirtuins - These so far is the only ingredient known to to help repair cell damage and they may also help in increasing collagen.

Pro-Xylane - This is a type of moisturizer that is a form of hydraulic acid. It works by attracting water to the cells, keeping it 1,000 times its volume, thus making the skin more plumped up.

Growth Factors - These are hormones and proteins that tell your cells to build collagen and increase the formation of blood vessels.

Niacinamide - This is a natural B3 that makes enzymes repair the dna of cells. With Niacinamide the process of cell repair is much faster than without it. It helps fight sun damage and also may have anti cancer properties.

Peptides - These help to improve the ciruclation of lymp circulation which results in less puffiness under the eyes.

Alpha Lipoic Acid - This is fat and water soluble giving it the ability to work directly inside the cell and in the cell membrane. What this means to you is that this antioxidant can do some serious damage to free radicals.

Lactobacillus - This helps to speed up healing of your face and provides a protective balance of moisture and bacteria.

Phloretin - This is an antioxidant that comes from an apple. When this antioxidant comes into contact with ferulic acid and vitamin C it is very powerful and can penetrate the skin deeply to remove brown spots and wrinkles.

Isotretinoin - This is the main ingredient in the acne fighting product called Accutane. In the low dose pills of 20 mg it has been known to help with hyperpigmentation, skin tone and wrinkles.

AminoGlycine - This is an ingredient used to change your hair's coloring. For those of us going grey this is great because using a hair coloring product that contains this ingredient will only take you 10 minutes instead of 20.
