Look #1: Brown Eye-Shadow & Bold Lip/Neutral Lip

The reason behind using warm color eyeshadows in fall is to define warmth in the season. The idea is to keep the eyes light while complementing it with a bold lip color. Some of the materials you will need is,

  • Primer
  • Concealer
  • Foundation
  • Blush
  • Eyebrows makeup
  • Brown eye shadow
  • Highlighter shade
  • Eyeliner
  • Mascara/Fake Lashes
  • Lipliner/Lipstick

Step 1: Prime your face after applying a good moisturizer. Some good primers include e.l.f. Studio Mineral face primer, Maybelline Baby Instant Pore Eraser, Bh Cosmetics Studio Pro Foundation Primer, Laura Mercier Foundation Primer, Too Faced Primed & Poreless Primer, and Benefits The POREfessional face primer. All these work wonders in the fall season. They all hide open pores and gives a long lasting finish to the foundations.

Step 2: Conceal any imperfections you may have. This includes dark circles, acne, pimples, blemishes, scars or bruises. Make sure you choose the right concealer according to your skin type.

Step 3: Apply your foundation. Make sure you use either a beauty blender or flat kabuki brush or even a flat foundation brush to give your face a flawless look. Start in the middle on the forehead and blend outwards.

Step 4: Apply a blush. With a brown eyeshadow, you may want to choose a neutral blush color. For example, any peach or nude blush shade would compliment a nice brown eyeshadow. Apply the blush using a angled brush and apply on the apple of your cheeks moving the brush upwards.

Step 5: Take any of your Nudes or Browns eye shadow palette. Take an all over lid brush and apply a light brown on the lid of your eyes. Highlight under the brow using a white shimmer eyeshadow. Choose a darker brown for the crease and blend. Blend until you see no harsh lines. Then apply the same white shimmer highlight color in the inner corner of your eyes. Apply a dark brown eyeliner as a winged eyeliner on the eyelid. Using the same brown that used all over the lid, apply it on your waterline.

My two current favourite nude palettes are the Maybelline The Nudes, Urban Decay Nudes and the Essence Nude Eyes. They have amazing pigmentation and you can create numerous looks from one. The fall theme fits perfect in these pallets as it provides different shades of browns as well, from mattes to shimmers.

Step 6: Apply an eyeliner to the waterline if desired.

Step 7: Curl your lashes and apply mascara.

Step 8: Take a lip liner that matches the closest to your lipstick and apply by lining your lips.

Step 9: Apply your burgundy/Maroon lipstick for the bold lip color. The picture you see on the top right corner is a true burgundy color that is perfect for a complete fall look, however if you don't want to emphasize the lips, then you can go for either a lighter shade or a nude shade with this eye look. It will still complete as a fall look.

Look #2: Peachy Eye-Shadows with Nude Lips!

Peach eyeshadows definitely represent the fall season and looks amazing during the day time. It can be turned into an everyday look very easily. Again, peach is a warm color tone which looks incredible with softly colored lips. If you want your eyes to "pop" then golden can be added. This will make the eyes appear more open and bright. Here are some of the steps included to achieve a peach eye.

Step 1: Prep your eye with an eye primer. Two of my favourite eye primers are the Revlon Photoready Eye Primer and Urban Decay Primer Potion. Both are great to keep the eyeshadows from creasing.

Step 2: Apply a white base to intensify the color. I currently use the NYX white base and it works really good. You can also use a jumbo eye pencil as a white base for this look.

Step 3: Using an all over eyelid brush apply a light cream color. Then using the same brush apply a golden eyeshadow. (This can be matte or shimmer)

Step 4: Take a small crease/blending brush and make a "V" on the outer corner of the eye with a peach color.

An affordable palette you can use for the peachy and cream tones is the Bh Cosmetics Day & Night palette or the Bh Cosmetics 80 Colors Palette. Both have a wide variety of tones to compliment a nice peach eye. If you would like to read reviews on these palettes then please refer to the article on the right side!

Step 5: Blend! Blend! Blend until you see no harsh lines.

Step 6: Apply your black eyeliner to the top and bottom eyelashes. Finish with either false lashes or mascara. Refer to the top for lipstick colors in nude shades!

Step 7: Apply your lipstick. You can use nude colors as stated above or you can also wear a dark lip color such as coral, orange or even peach depending on your comfort zone. It will look great with the peach eyeshades! Make sure you go with warm bold colors as oppose to cool colors.

Finish with applying the rest of your face makeup as your preferred method.

5 Tips for Daytime Fall Looks

There are some basic suggestions you can follow when applying makeup in fall. Please refer below.

  1. Avoid using a lot of contouring and highlighting.
  2. Keep your foundation very close to your skin color to give it a natural look.
  3. Choose colors from the color wheel if you are not sure what colors compliment each other both for the eyes and lips.
  4. Avoid red or mauve or pink lipsticks in fall as these tend to look "cold" in the fall.
  5. Try not to emphasize both eyes, cheeks, lips all at the same time. I am not saying it's wrong, generally in makeup routines this is avoided. Applying makeup is an art that has rules and once study you can break those rules.
