Finally, Shampoo and Hair Conditioner Containers that Work!

Updated on April 28, 2013

Good Packaging for the Consumer

Normally, I don’t think of the packaging on the merchandise I buy from the drugstore or the grocery store. Packaging isn't something that catches my eye, except for some obvious reason, like it is pretty to look at!

I know every company has a packaging department and a Guru that has gone to university to study how to get us to buy commodities when there is all that competition out there.

I know, because I have worked in companies with Packaging Departments and I am aware of why packaging changes…mostly to grab our attention! I also have a best friend who has a university educated son who does packaging for a living. So call me… a “semi-authority” by proxy …LOL. Well, sometimes there are practical reasons, like stopping the product from from running down the side of the container and dripping on your foot  while you are pouring it into the washing machine!

It is a dog-eat-dog world out there. Packaging has to be “cool” and has to grab your attention.

Now all of this is leading to a big "Thank You" to a company for coming up with packaging that is really thinking of the consumer.... Me.

As a boomer, my eyesight isn't what it used to be. Now do not get me wrong…I see well enough with glasses, but I do not have the good fortune of my late mother, who had 20/20 vision to the ripe age of 81.

The worst packaging, surprisingly, for me, is shampoo and conditioner bottles that look identical! Do manufactures believe I wear my specs into the shower? I am not that blind yet! I can see the bar of soap!

So this packaging is quite newsworthy to those of "us" who can accidentally shampoo with conditioner and follow up with shampoo. Or worse, like my late husband, who shampooed with liquid sink cleaner…but that is another Hub!

Yes, I do realize the mistake right away, but by that time, it is in my hair!  I do have to wash out with shampoo and re-condition! A waste of product!

The good folks that I am going to recommend to all the folks that can’t tell shampoo from conditioner in the shower have thought of the Boomer Consumer.

Now this product is in Canada so I hope it applies State-side as well... Americans have great packaging, for example coffee tins have great gripping plastic lids, while ours fall off after the can is open... but I am wandering off topic so bear with me.

As well, maybe there are some other companies packaging this way...but I am just glad to see that this shampoo and conditioner packaging is finding it's way onto our store shelves.

So this is why I love this product:

  • · Shampoo in a clear bottle, opens at the top; white cap.
  • · Conditioner in a white” solid colour” bottle, opens at the bottom; dark blue cap!

Finally a product I don’t have to fumble outside the shower curtain for glasses to peer at the container!

The product is:

  • · Pantene PROV
  • · By the good folks at Procter and Gamble

I give them a Thumbs Up!

Review of Pantene flat to volume Shampoo and Conditioner for Fine Hair

I have fine straight hair and not every shampoo works for me. I have my favorites.

After seeing adverts for Pantene flat to volume I had to give it a try. What I really liked was the packaging, but the question remained, was it what it advertised?

The shampoos I like make my hair soft and silky with a healthy shine and great body. that is a tall order for hair like mine, but I think I usually find shampoos that do a good job.

I will be writing more Hubs on other shampoos I have tried and liked, but to be fair to this product, I thought I would review it first.

I have always been fussy and not all products get used, or if used they are they alternated with better products so my hair does not get too stressed.

I like Pantene flat to volume. It does create volume and my hair is acceptable after. I would rate it a 7 out of 10 for several reasons.

Note: I doubt I will ever find a 10, since that would give me "model quality" hair ... that may not be possible with the hair I was born with!

So here are my reasons for my score:

  • It is a decent price for the quality
  • I like the packaging which is easy to distinguish in the shower without glasses
  • It delivers volume which works for my type of hair
  • The conditioning is good
  • It leaves my hair soft

The only con I have is that there are products that give my hair a better shine..but that isn't the end of the world. Would I buy this product again? Yes, but I will keep looking for that elusive "perfect" shampoo!
